Post by Guest Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:03 pm

New thread started for Dale Thompson's new band!

I was having a conversation with Alan - who is also in the band in another thread - but we started a new thread.

Here's the question I had asked Alan:

That's great to hear (about the new band) Why did Dale move to New Zealand? He was in Kentucky for soo many years! Also, has Bride broken up entirely? Just curious. I'm looking forward to checking out TWWB!!!

I grew up a major fan of Bride! I even met both Dale and Troy when I was in high school. They were incredibly nice!!!

I red in a interview a few days ago that he moved to New Zealand to get married to his girlfriend that he met in the internet.

He also said that he and Troy only need to talk about a new album, because Bride doesn't exist without any of the Thompson brothers.

It's a really good album.  I've only listened to it once, but it is a great reminder of why Dale is one of the great vocalists of our day.

Thiago is on the money.  Dale met his wife on the internet, and they hit it off really well.  I helped Bride with "Incorruptible" in 2013 and they would talk all the time of Skype.  Eventually he went to visit her and things progressed until they got married.  He is well adjusted in NZ but I know he misses Kentucky.
Dale and Troy decided to let "Incorruptible" be their last album, but a lot of us are hopeful they will record again.  I knew I could never replace Troy on guitars, so I didn't even try.  The World Will Burn is a lot different than Bride - it is more modern rock and a lot more "in your face" than Bride, who could be more progressive and complex than what Dale and I are doing in TWWB.
We did our CD "Severity" completely remotely, with me doing the music and Dale doing all the vocals, then sending the files back and forth.  It was a learning curve but it would be possible for Dale and Troy to do another Bride album without even being on the same continent.
I hope you guys get a change to check TWWB out...we worked hard on it, are proud of it, and just need to get the word out there.  I am too new on the board to post a web link but the site is www dot the world will burn dot com.  Let me know what you think and ask any questions that come to mind.  I love this board btw...

The only Bride album I really enjoyed was Snakes in the Playground, now having said that, would a fan of that album enjoy this new band?

Thanks for the warm welcome to the board.  I have been watching for a long time.  I really appreciate the information that we can share with each other.
If you like Dale's voice, you will certainly like The World Will Burn.  He has an amazing, distinctive voice. However, TWWB is not BRIDE, so I dont want to mislead anyone.  If you like big, loud guitars and thick hooks, I think you will like it.  If you cant play the above, all of the songs can be previewed at our website.  www.theworldwillburn.com

I really like those two songs! Sounds like Bride to me. After all, Bride had many shift changes and style differentiation between albums! I can easily see this as being the new Bride album, but with Alan instead of Troy! Who is playing bass and drums?

Also, I want to say ... for recording this album from across the ocean from each other .. you'd never know it! Sounds seamless and smooth! I like it!

RavenWolf, thanks for listening and I am glad you like them! Nice comments are really appreciated.
Dale has such a distinctive voice that anything he sings on is going to sound somewhat like BRIDE.  You could almost say that BRIDE sounds like Dale.  I will be the first to admit that I am not half the musician that Troy is.  I am a groove player, and I like to get into the groove and beat you on the head with it.  I dont get too tricky.  But I do admit that its not too far to imagine it is BRIDE when listening.
I played the bass and drums as well.  I had a few guest musicians, too.  Troy plays the solo on the song TORMENT, and our mixing engineer, Tim Bushong, plays leads on some of the songs, too.  Brad Holland, a terrific bass player and friend of mine, played on MAD MAN.  It would be safe to say all of the really good playing is someone else!  The drums were my biggest challenge, and I got a lot of help from the computer to get them right.  Virtual drummers and loops kept me honest and I couldnt have pulled it off without that technology.  The main thing on the drums was the sound, and at least I got that right but if you listen closely you can hear a lot of my mistakes.
Do any of you guys have some ideas on how I can promote TWWB?  How about a giveaway here, too, just for fun and as a thanks for having a place to chat about it?

Alan- do you guys use social media, twitter, facebook, etc? that would be a start IMO

Also being a part of the community I think helps (like what you are doing now) makes it more relateable is the word im looking for, you guys have a website up. Outside of that word of mouth I think would be all I can suggest.

Aaron, we have been using Dale's FB page since he has so many followers already. There are a million Christian metal pages, and we are trying to post to them as well. I don't know if it's working or not. Word of mouth has been the trick. We have 5/5 star ratings on iTunes, CDBaby, Google play, and Amazon. We have 10/10 stars on sound park. Word gets out, people trust other people, and give it a listen. If people will listen to a few songs they usually end up buying it and really liking it.
So who can think up a fun contest for a giveaway on this thread? I have tons of cool merch and some extra CDs I'm burnin to share!

If it were me I would make a FB Page for the band, this way its a group entity and not centered around one person. Dale is pretty well known enough to where people should flock to it though.  Reviews I think help too cuz as you said people trust people's reviews. Alot of Christian bands have their own fb pages,  Worldview, Stryper, Violet Burning, and all these bands members have separate pages.  Just a thought.

As for a fun contest......could set a deadline to have people PM you to be entered into a drawing of some kind and then randomly pick a name, and if its multiple prizes id then remove the winners from the pool so that more people can win. Outside of that and in this capacity I am not sure what can be done. Definitely want something where everybody can participate in. Sorry its not more of a help

Those are some great ideas!  I dont know if I have time to start a new FB page, but I know it needs to be done.  Neither Dale nor I have been very motivated to keep up with one, but I might just get a jump on it.  I havent heard of rateyourmusic but I will check it out and add us asap.  Just make you get there and give us 5 stars!
Last weekend we hit #1 on Amazon's hot new alternative metal download chart, which was cool.  I tried to post a screen shot on here but couldnt figure it out.  I am glad to be competing with secular bands and not just other Christian bands, that was one of our goals.
OK here is the plan.  Please visit www.theworldwillburn.com and listen to the samples you find there.  Post back here which song you like best and why, and I will send 2 CDs to one of the participants, and maybe some other cool stuff too.  Deal?

My favorite is "You See Me Coming" the sample has a nice rocking raunchy sound and just comes off as one of those songs that will pump you up one of those I wanna drive fast songs.  From all the samples I loved this song the best. To me it is very Alice Cooperesque via Poison era.....  I can see this as a song heavy in my playlist.

I think my favorite is "Absolute Power". Good structures. Love the instruments and the vocals and how they work together!

That said - I actually like all of the songs - it was hard to just narrow it down to one.

Rock on 1

Aaron, thanks so much for offering to help with a FB page.  We need the help but I hate to ask because I know how busy everyone is.  I dont want to put more on your plate than I know is already there.

Aaron and Wolf, seems like you are the only people that checked it out so you are both winners!  If you go to the website and send us an email we will get the CDs out to you asap.  Thanks for checking it out and I am glad you guys like it.  When you get the CDs you can listen to the entire songs.  I hope you wont be disappointed.

ROUND TWO!  The first three people that leave a top rating and review get the pick of any TWWB merchandise on the website.  Hats, posters, tshirts, more CDs, you name it!  iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, etc are all good places.  Just post where you left the review and confirm your user name for that platform.  It's fun giving away stuff!  Any takers?
