CHiPS to the big screen!!
roduction is officially underway on Warner Bros. Pictures‘ upcoming big screen CHiPs remake and we’ve got a look at photos from the set of the buddy cop movie featuring stars Dax Shepard as highway patrolman Jon Baker along with Michael Pena as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. Check them out in the gallery below!
In addition to starring in the film, Shepard wrote and is directing the feature, which also stars Kristen Bell (“House of Lies,” Frozen), Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Insurgent), Adam Brody (“The O.C.,” Jennifer’s Body), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Jurassic World, “Marvel’s Daredevil”).
The original series, which ran between 1977 and 1983, focused on two police officers who patrolled the California highways on motorcycles and starred Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada in the lead roles.
Said to be in the vein of buddy cop movies like Bad Boys and Lethal Weapon, the CHiPs remake was written by Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove before Shepard did his own draft. Andrew Panay is producing.

Could this mean that Hollywood is officially out of new ideas?

i just hope it has plenty of this:
I was under the assumption that this is why LA Traffic was so bad. As a kid I thought this happened every day.

Re: CHiPS to the big screen!!
I grew up watching and loving CHiPs. However, usually when one of my favorite shows gets made into a movie (Charlie's Angels, A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, etc) they all turn out awful!!! Keep the old shows in circulation on Blue Ray but don't make anymore remakes and ruin the shows!!!

I don't think ONE of the "classic 80's" tv shows have turned into a decent piece of film. My scepticism knows no bounds for this one.....

Michael Pena was in Ant-Man. He was hilarious in that, but this is based off an 80s show, so I'm highly skeptical. I mean, sure, A-Team was good, as was 21 Jump Street. I just hope the failures of this 80s show doesn't hold it back.

I loved "First Contact"!
Besides, until the reboot movies that Abrams did, Star Trek was different. It wasn't just a remade tv show--it was tv that came alive and continued on the big screen.

Re: CHiPS to the big screen!!
The Dukes of Hazzard was terrible. They didn't catch the feel of the characters at all. They made the Duke boys to be nothing but dumb hicks, Daisy to be a skank, and Uncle Jessie to be a stoner. The only character I thought they improved on was Roscoe P. Coltrane. Instead of being so darn silly like in the tv show, they just made him mean and very loyal to Boss Hogg's money. That part worked. The rest just felt more like a mockery than actually trying to make a great Dukes film.
Of course, now that the rebel flag is a racist symbol and mostly banned, you will never see the Dukes on tv or in a movie again.

Any word of the proposed "Manimal" movie? (it was talked about several years ago)? If anything, we've got a ready-made theme song!

So in other words, they made it more realistic?

Look at every movie out there today. I'd say that most fit into the category of:
1. Remake/Reboot
2. Sequel
3. Prequel
4. Spin-Off
5. Movie made from book
6. Movie made from comic
I think this has been the case for at least 10-20 years now.
