Oh no! But you're still so young!
Haha congrats. My wife took some classes there and has nothing but great things to say of DTS.

The German's love for paperwork is rather creepy. For our application for parental support (a certain percentage of your monthly income, I think 35%) we need to send a small novel.

First day at my new job (working from home)! This "vacation" has been nice - especially as we've been getting settled into our new home in Idaho - but I'm happy to be once again employed (and start getting a regular paycheck again!).

Re: Random thoughts...
Thanks guys! Yeah it's pretty sweet. So far it's been pretty dang boring: just learning different software things, company structure (it's a BIG company...), and the like. But I'm very grateful to be employed and it's a good company with lots of opportunities down the road. When my previous company dropped the bomb on me that I would indeed NOT be continuing work remotely for them from Idaho, I was a bit concerned since we had just signed a 12-month lease and everything. But God is good and opened up this opportunity for me right away! And the best part is that I get to work from home - especially since we've got our first kiddo on the way.

I got my new computer in today which is the first step in starting my own business! I'm planning on opening an LLC very soon here and begin offering mechanical design engineering services. I've never been my own boss before but it sounds pretty sweet. I'll still keep my current job which - while it doesn't pay super awesomely - is nice and regular and also is pretty flexible. But who knows, if my own gig takes off, I could transition to just doing that full time!

Praying your new business will be so successful you will need to hire help. (Did you get your P.E.?)

Thanks Gary! No, unfortunately I didn't work for any P.E.'s so I didn't have the opportunity to get mine. Oh well.

At least that will limit your liability. Make sure you get some sort of agreement/contract for any work you do, at least just to limit your personal liability.

That's good advice; thanks! Gosh that's something I hadn't considered yet. I'll need to look into liability and such.

Re: Random thoughts...
So I went to a local Chinese buffet yesterday for lunch. This homeless dude hit me up to pay for his lunch while I stood in a short line to pay my bill. He gave me the typical "I'm a homeless vet & I'm hungry" spiel that most of these guys give you nowadays.
i noticed that he already had a bill. So, I just ignored the guy because he has already eaten and is now EXPECTING someone to pay for him. After I paid for mine, I turned to leave but did turn to see what he would do as I walked out the door. He pulled out a wad of cash and paid his own bill! The dude was carrying way more money than I was to say the least, and he had the cajones to ask someone to pay for his lunch that he'd already eaten! If you were that broke, why wouldn't you be hitting someplace CHEAP to eat instead of a buffet that was $10.99 at lunch?
And then the homeless wonder why people are skeptical of their claims to need help.....

You're right... So when are you gonna come up and visit us?
Oh man, for the past decade+ my music collection has been scattered in boxes stored in my parents' house because I've been living in places too small for even shelves. (I don't have a particularly huge collection either - it's just that housing in CA is darn expensive and you gotta be super rich to afford a halfway decent-sized place!) But last week my wife and I bought cheapo shelves from Walmart and I was FINALLY able to organize my music (and movies and videogames)! Ah it feels so good hahahaha.

Dang, yesterday was a 20 hour work day for me! I left at 3:00am for the airport to go to a business meeting and got back at midnight... It was a long day but yay for 12 hours of overtime! The bank account will like that at least.

Triple-post... tsk tsk.
Man it has been quite smokey here for the past few days. It seems like the whole western side of the country is on fire. Sigh...

No kidding, I'm getting tired of my eyes and throat being sore from all the smoke. Hope it clears up soon.

Re: Random thoughts...
How's the smoke in your area? It's still pretty bad here but not nearly as bad as this past weekend.
Goodness, life is getting a little wild right now but in very good ways: My wife and I will be celebrating our second year of marriage this Monday which is also our first child's due date!!! She could come any day now and we are absolutely thrilled to meet her. Also, it's looking like I'm most likely going to be getting an offer for a direct position at the company that I'm currently contracting for. This is exciting news as well. While it'll require some travel overseas, the majority of the time I'll be working from home close to wife and child which I am very grateful for. And I suspect the pay will be much better and it'll come with benefits. And this afternoon my dad and I are going to go target shooting which I'm looking forward to.
