Amazon MP3 Bit Rate

People in the past have told me that Amazon mp3's are 320 kbps bit rate...
However, I just downloaded my entire Amazon MP3 Library and not a single one was 320.
The majority are 220 to 260, few actually even hit 256.....while I had some that were as low as 116. Usually the real low ones are the older songs. For example, a Christmas variety album had Dead Martin songs at 116-120.
That's crazy....
Anyone else notice this?

I recently downloaded four MP3 albums from Amazon (like the last two months). I just spot checked all of them (so I didn't look at every single song, just two or three from each album) and they are all 320Kbps.

Hmmmm....I have yet to see one of mine that even reaches 300

As far as I know amazon uses VBR (Variable Bit Rates) up to 320 Kbps. That means depending on the complexity of the information in the track the bit rate changes. At moments of low complexity it is reduced, in moments of high complexity it is raised up to 320 Kbps.

I do have some older albums from Amazon that are definitely in the 200-256 range (stuff I downloaded years ago).

Like Staybrite, all of my newer downloads from them are 320 but some older ones were 256.

Interesting...Amazon's guidelines state that they are VBR and try to achieve close to 256, and some are CBR at 256. According to them, they don't even offer 320.
I am sure that if you guys buy mp3 from Amazon, that you are bound to have a couple of these. I have bought all of these within the last year, some just this week. NONE are in 320......
