Worldview Announcement
We're proud to announce that our debut album "The Chosen Few" will be released on May 22nd in Europe and on May 26th in North America through M24 Music Group! Check out an album teaser at YouTube below!
"The Chosen Few" is packed with a host of celebrity guest players: Oz Fox (Stryper) playing a blazing lead guitar, Les Carlsen (Bloodgood) laying down a dramatic guest vocal, Jimmy P. Brown (Deliverance) cutting some low and powerful background vocals. Larry Farkas (Vengeance... Rising, Die Happy) shredding with his tasty licks, Armand Meinbardis (Rob Rock) dazzling with his violin and piano playing, and Niki Bente gracing the record with her lovely voice on the title track.
The artwork was created by Felipe Machado Franco [Blind Guardian, Rhapsody of Fire, Jorn] and the album was mixed and mastered by Bill Metoyer [Fates Warning, Slayer, W.A.S.P., Deliverance]
"The Chosen Few" can be pre-ordered at the bands website: www.worldviewmetal.com [starting tomorrow, March 19th]

Re: Worldview Announcement
Great news! No sooner will it be available for pre-order than I will be buying it.
But the album teaser didn't show very much from the album, as we all have already heard Two Wonders and My Last Cry, as well as The Chosen Few (an old-and-never released Recon song).
And I knew that Jimmy Brown and Les Carlsen was going to be a part of it, But at no time could I know about Oz Fox and Larry Farkas contributions to this project. Let's see how it will sound!

Re: Worldview Announcement
I was fully ready to pre-order the CD. Until I saw that it is $14.95 + $5.95 shipping! Are you freaking kidding me?!?! No way. I'll get it digitally for $9 or $10 when it's out. That's insane. They wonder why downloading is taking over the CD industry.

Re: Worldview Announcement
FoJ,
I personally had no issues paying postage to get a signed copy of it.
Remember that small businesses aren't going to have the ability to ship for what Amazon does. Amazon has discounted rates available to them due to their volume, and even the boxes they ship in they get a lot cheaper than a small business because of the bulk they buy in.
They aren't a charity. They don't run a non profit organization. They have to make money to recover the production costs and their time.
As few CDs as Christian metal bands generally sell, they have to price them accordingly.
How often do you mail stuff? US Mail rates are very high. They also have to buy the packaging boxes to mail the items in. It isn't free. On top of that, they will have to pay credit card fees or PayPal fees for taking your payment.
"Insane" "are you freaking kidding me"
Those are comments that sound like you are ripping them and accusing them of charging too much.
I feel so bad for bands that have mainly Christians as their fans. Christian metal fans can be some of the cheapest, whiniest fans out there.

Re: Worldview Announcement
Also don't forget that it can be more expensive per disc to make a CD (disc, manufacturing, labeling, case, etc etc) for smaller quantities like those that Christian metal bands usually work with.

NOIH...I don't appreciate your comments, to say the least. If you disagree with me, fine. But please don't ever call me cheap or whiny again. I was frustrated with something and said so.
I have mailed CDs for years. It typically costs $2 or so, anywhere in the US. Factor in an envelope and maybe $3 shipping I can accept. But there's no way it costs $6 to package and ship something. If you believe that's acceptable, go for it. But I have grown very frustrated over the years with people recouping costs by overcharging on shipping. This is not an isolated incident and it has nothing whatsoever to do with me being a Christian fan. They're overcharging for shipping, period. As for the costs of the CD itself...I wasn't so frustrated with this. I was willing to pay the $14.95. My entire rant was about the shipping.

FoJ,
So instead of posting your frustration about the postage in a positive, reasonable manner saying that you think the postage is too high, you post comments like "insane" and "are you freaking kidding me"?
You make it sound like they are trying to rip you off.

Re: Worldview Announcement
And $3 for shipping and packaging is too low to guarantee proper postage for shipping to anywhere in continental US.
Most places I deal with for DVDs or CDs other than Amazon charge $5 to $6 for shipping for the first item.

Re: Worldview Announcement
Well, I guess that the cd+packaging is a bit pricy, but I agree that the quantity pressed are small what makes the price per unity increase. Not to mention costs with booking studio for recording, staff to work on production, photography, filming video clips, among other things. I say it as I know that there will probably be no tour for them to recover the wasted money. They intend to do it by selling cds, t-shirts, and the quantity of views of their videos on youtube, if applicable (with video clips, interviews and etc, what also works as a good marketing). And even though I suppose most of christian bands do not intend to make money from music, they have probably got theirs jobs. This might be kind of a hobby, they are having fun while making music. Of course, music is supposed to be heard as much as possible, so people can be motivated by doing this, and still it is art and they must get paid for it.
On the other hand, the costumer has the right to have its own opinion about the price, as he can choose to buy it or not. As I said above, it is a bit pricey in my opinion, however I would gladly pay for it as there aren't many christian bands releasing new material, and I would probably get the autographed cd and a T-shirt . However, I said I "would" because I will probably purchase the mp3 files, only, as I would have to pay for, at around, Us$10 to US$15 for shipping overseas (what is alright by me), plus something around US$25 for the brazilian rates, what is the insane tax for me, not to mention that you have to multiply the entire value per 3,2 due to the money depreciation. So, the total expense would be around R$160,00! I am being ripped off by the government.
If there is a option to buy the digital files for US$13,00, I Will buy it paying only a tax of US$1,00 approximately, so the total expense would be around R$42,00. It is almost a quarter of the cd value!
