Re: I broke my leg!
My
PT went well today. I have about 10 different exercises that I have to
do a couple of times a day. I'll be seeing the therapist twice a week
for a while.
Pray for me as I am scheduled to return to LHS
tomorrow. My physical therapist has warned me to watch the swelling in
my foot. If it worsens by having it down and walking on it more, then I
will be done for the rest of the school year (the last 8 days). I
know--it isn't that long. But, I want to be back. So, please pray that
everything goes great tomorrow.

Re: I broke my leg!
My foot is still swelling quite a bit since going back to work. But,
the PT and home exercises are working. I will get out of this walking
boot sometime this week and go into a new brace for possibly 2 months.
Why
2 months? I didn't just break the bone. I pulled all of the tendons
off the bottom of my heal. So, while these heal up, they are going to
need extra support to prevent them from pulling loose. This brace will
give me more mobility and allow me to wear shoes. But, it will also
provide the needed protection of those tendons as they grow back to the
bottom of my foot.

I am still progressing and recovering. I am still in a brace after all this time and will be at least until July 11. I hope to get released from care from my doctor and have no further physical therapy after that.

Man. I didn't know casts stayed on for this long. Good to hear that it sounds like you're almost done.

Re: I broke my leg!
Go back and read it again. I got the cast off in May, went into a walking boot for 3 weeks, and have been in a special brace ever since. I wouldn't have had to have all that if I had just simply broken the ankle. I broke the tibia, dislocated the ankle, and ripped ALL the tendons loose from my heel. The bone is fine after having the steel plate and screws put in. I am just strengthening the tendons now as they are still week from being ripped off and reattached.
I hope to get out of the brace on July 11. That would be a little over 13 weeks since the break. But, from surgery to full recovery is to be six months according to my surgeon.
