Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath?
Re: Zeppelin, Purple, or Sabbath?
I really wanted to give it to Purple.
But I had to go Zeppelin. I just had to.
All 3 are incredible.

Sabbath. I'm only a casual fan of the other two

You should repent of that.Black Rider wrote:Sabbath. I'm only a casual fan of the other two

Had to go with Sabbath, even though Purple was my introduction to heavy music.
I love all 3 though.

If we're just talking 70's, well, Zep could do no wrong and I tried getting into some DP odds and ends, but could only gravitate toward the stuff that was well known. If you go by the longevity factor, well, how does Joe Lynn Turner measure up to Ronnie James Dio is the question? You'd have to go with the legend hands down, unless you're more of a pop music fan then maybe you'd prefer Turner. However, we all know metal rules and Sabbath is thus declared the winner by surviving the longest with the most quality.
BTW, if you include Rainbow does that go to the DP Blackmore side or the Dio Sabbath side?

I enjoy Deep Purple, the Mk II and III era are great! But Blackmore was at his best in Rainbow!
And Sabbath was at the their best on Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules.
The common denominator is RJD, and since Sabbath put out some of the best music ever made with Dio, I'll vote Sabbath

Black Sabbath!
It’s not even a question for me. Sabbath are in my top 10 favorite bands.

I love all versions of Sabbath!
Ozzy, Dio, Gillan and Martin. Doesn’t matter. They all are great.

Have to go with Led Zeppelin. They were my favorite band in high school.
Black Sabbath would be #2.

I actually got into Sabbath later than the other two, so it’s hard for me to overcome that fact. Back in high school when I had a far smaller collection of music than I do now both Zep and Purple were two of my favorite bands.
I'm probably the only person in the universe for whom this is true, but this is my favorite Purple song:

I'm afraid to admit that out of those three I've only ever listened to full albums by Black Sabbath... so I'm going with them. Their debut was phenomenal.

I thought Purple was huge in Europe and was required listening? Just look at the effect Blackmore had on Yngwie!Andreas89 wrote:I'm afraid to admit that out of those three I've only ever listened to full albums by Black Sabbath... so I'm going with them. Their debut was phenomenal.

Re: Zeppelin, Purple, or Sabbath?
The only DP album as good as Sabbath is In Rock. Maaaaaaaaybe Machine Head if I'm feeling really generous.
It's hard to make it through a full Led Zep album. Ooooh baby it's hard to make it through. Oooh yeah, ooooohhhhh yeah. Uh huh now momma. It's hard, oh baby you know it's hard to listen to these full albums. Harder than the winds of Thor blowing bustles through your hedgerow.

Tritto! (It's like ditto, but I'm the third). I have way more Sabbath albums than I do Zepp or Purple.
