2024 Recommendations

Well, 2024 is a quarter gone, so it seems like a fine time to start posting some recommended albums you’ve discovered so far this year. (I’ll do a separate thread for secular releases tomorrow).

A couple of my picks:

Whitecross: Fear No Evil
Dunno where this will fit in my ranking at this point, but it’s good stuff.

LEAH: The Glory and the Fallen
Might be more Christian-friendly, but it’s a strong release with compelling tunes.

I’m not sure about a quarter gone… but I’ll take a quarter pounder with cheese meal later.

This year is starting off pretty slow for Christian metal. Last year was the same way, but it picked up a bit later on. Hopefully that will be the case this year, as well.

I just listened to a track from All For The King's latest and really dig 'em.  How do their previous albums compare?  I need to look more into this band.  How are the lyrics?

Indeed 2024 has been off to a bit of a slow start, but I have been really enjoying Herfstdood and Zebulon's releases and hope to hear more from both projects!

On the secular side, I just got the new Sonata Arctica in yesterday and upon first listen like it quite a bit.  Far Beyond's latest is very good too.

The new album is pretty much their sound, a mix of classic metal with modern touches and lyrics are a little cheesy but solid.

Right on.  I'm quite alright with solid but cheesy lyrics.    I will be adding their catalog to my ever-growing want-list!

Do you mean albums we found out about this year or albums released this year? Albums released I have no idea. Albums I discovered are Red Lamb (Awesome MD inspired thrash), The Subversive Kind (I avoided Big D's albums after WAJ until recently and didn't know what I was missing out on!), Chained (Pantera style Christian Groove Metal, really enjoying it). There are others but those are some of the big ones for me.

I was mainly thinking of things that released this year, but feel free to post recent discoveries anyway.

This actually came out at the end of 2023, but I recommend the E.P. "John 17:3" by the band The Way Of Cain. 

It is prog metal from some former members of Teramaze.

Thanks you just made my year.  Clinton Johannes on the Tears To Dust album is my favorite vocal performance and he just disappeared.  Now he has resurfaced without much fanfare.  He doesn't sound like he lost much just matured.
