“Hair” metal recommendations
Warning: hair metal can have quite sexual lyrics, so bear that in mind. The ones I’ll recommend have innuendos, but I’m gonna stay away from anything too graphic.
My suggestions to turn people into hair metal fans (some of these are debatable genre-wise, but close enough):
Def Leppard: Pyromania, Hysteria
Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet (skip Social Disease), New Jersey
Dokken: Under Lock and Key, Back for the Attack
Ratt: Out of the Cellar
Whitesnake: self-titled

I'm not sure the "hair" label is appropriate for Tesla, but I also highly recommend the first 4 Tesla albums. My favorites are The Great Radio Controversy and Psychotic Supper.

Nah, I actually like a lot of hair metal. I just like making fun of it.
I don't know much secular hair metal, I mainly listen to Whitecross, Stryper, and Holy Soldier, Holy Soldier being the best

I guarantee that Last Train is the best song ever made by a hair band. It's one of the best songs ever made overall imo.Pethead wrote:I love some Christian hair metal, but I don't know that much of it can top the best of the secular scene, honestly. But there are great bands in the Christian scene too.

Is this a joke, or does an album called “Pornograffiti” actually have good lyrics?Pethead wrote:Pornograffitti is one of my favorites. Far above average lyrics for the genre, too.

Not a joke at all. A lot of it has to do with real love in a world obsessed with casual sex.seth wrote:Is this a joke, or does an album called “Pornograffiti” actually have good lyrics?Pethead wrote:Pornograffitti is one of my favorites. Far above average lyrics for the genre, too.

Guess that’s a lesson in not judging an album by its cover. Because seeing a hair metal album with that name, I certainly jumped to conclusions as to the contentPethead wrote:Not a joke at all. Extreme is an interesting band. The singer claims to be a believer, although I don't know if he did back in their heyday or not. Also their guitarist is unbelievable.

I should check that out. Cool sounding lyrical themes.Pethead wrote:Absolutely. Now it's not exactly a family-friendly album, but it's not a celebration of porn or anything like that.

You'd probably like their album III Sides To Every Story. It has progressive/symphonic qualities to several tracks, especially the 21-minute "Everything Under The Sun" suite.

I'd say Gary's beliefs run pretty deep. On their first album is Watching, Waiting which is about Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Nuno is a fabulous guitarist.

I'll clarify. That song at times makes me feel like I'm about to go to heaven myself. There's something about it that puts it above most other songs for me, and I'm not really sure why, I just know that heaven is something I look forward too a lot and that is by far the best song for making me think about heaven.Black Rider wrote:This is funny.StevenCressler wrote:I guarantee that Last Train is the best song ever made by a hair band. They were more like a heavier version of Queen.
