Heaviest Petra Song?

I'm curious to see what people are going to say and I feel a lot of people are going to give the song I'm thinking of so I'll wait to give my answer.

Defector

That's a good one. Where I got my band name from. It's prob 2 or 3 imo.

Defector is the closest they get to thrash.

While Mine Field isn't my pick for the heaviest, is is my pick for the best.

Test Of Time is probably their heaviest. Perfect World could probably tie it but the verses are softer, which isn't a bad thing it's one of my favorite Petra songs and prob my fav from J&H. Just when measuring heaviness it's good if it's have all the way through the song.

I underlined the words I agree with.

I guess it depends on how you define heaviness. Perfect World has a bottom-heavy production and sound, but Defector has much more intense songwriting.

The first I thought of was This Means War

By "heavy", the best way I can put it is closest to metal. J&H is metal, On Fire!(and Defector) is CLOSE to metal. I like to think of Defector as Thrash Rock or something.

I’d say On Fire! Is closer to classic metal; J&H is closer to modern (as in early 2000s) metal. I wouldn’t personally call either full-on metal.

I thought This Means War! was their heaviest album but I listened to J&H only once. In fact, they lost me after Beyond Belief, but I did try every album once on the Spotify just to be sure

Wait does it have to be RECORDED by Petra? Because I think One Bad Pig's cover of Judas' Kiss might take the title (but I'm sure there may be other covers out there I ain't heard)

Id call J&H metal, the rest is hard/arena rock

Jekyll and Hyde is modern rock, kinda like the Newsboys.

Dude literally called J&H metal in the post above mine, man.

You guys are driving me crazy with all these Petra threads but it is forcing me to go back and dig up these old songs.  And they are a better band than I remember and I'm discovering tracks I didn't know about before.

Minefield seems to have their heaviest riff.  One of these J&H songs is heaviest overall as it has the most crunch production.

I remember when we didn't even call Sabbath or Priest metal, it was all rock. Didn't even hear of the term till late 82.

Btw, my dad used to call it "Hard Steel!"
