Misleading song or album titles.
Sammy Hagar - Heavy Metal
Don Felder - Heavy Metal (takin’ a ride)
The only song I would say is true Heavy Metal is The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath.

WildWorld wrote:The song Black Metal by Sacred Warrior isnt even close to any Black Metal band (not even first wave BM), and the lyrics dont have anything to do with it (or even condemning the genre) either.
I didn’t know about that song. I’ll check it out!

Still was a missed opportunity to use real metal like Judas Priest.
The Hellion/Electric Eye would’ve been perfect for a scene during the outer space segment.

Idk… Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were the sound of metal in 1981. Hagar is too happy.

Maiden and Priest were the sound of British metal in 1981.
Hagar, Van Halen, Y&T, Riot, etc, were more-or-less considered American metal for 1981.
Then of course you had American metal bands like Manowar, Virgin Steele, Savatage and Queensryche popping up soon after.

Well if you put it that way…
Van Halen had some better and heavier rockers than solo Hagar. For example: Unchained, Romeo Delight and Atomic Punk.
Seeing that this wasn’t a purely American soundtrack… I would have used more British metal. Look how heavy Sabbath’s Master of Reality was! And that was 1971. Bottomline, there was better choices back then. Even UFO and the Scorpions has some heavy rockers.

Children of the Grave was real metal… and that was recorded in 1971.
Ten years later in 1981, there was a difference between “happy” upbeat hard rock and heavy metal.

Hagar is and always has been fluffy hard rock. Sure he has a great voice… but that’s not the point.

I think many people did. And they were prepared to blame the band for instructing them to.

It's not a love song.
2. "Battery" - Metallica
It's not about batteries at all.

It's not really speed metal, it's a neo-classical guitar work-out.
4. Kick Axe - “Heavy Metal Shuffle”
It's not really a metal song, more like funky hard rock.

Literally nothing about either Bruce Willis or Fred Dryer in this song.
