[Poll] Rambo vs Rocky

The two most famous franchises of Sylvester Stallone, but which one is better? I'd have to say Rocky, I like the Rambo films too, but the Rocky films (including the Creed spin off films) have a more triumphant tone to them.

Rocky easily. I like most Rocky films. I really only care about First Blood for Rambo.

Also, both First Blood and Rocky IV are Christmas movies.

I love both franchises, but Rocky just barely wins over Rambo.

Rocky IV and First Blood are my two favorite Stallone movies.

Rambo for me, way more satisfying and less cliché / predictable.  

Guess I'm in the minority again but that's okay...

Neither franchise sucks, but there was just something a little more "personal" with the struggling boxer trying his best to just get a break.  Not that I've every been a boxer or even a struggling athlete.

I pity the fool who doesn't vote Rocky.

Well I guess I've seen all of them at least once. Many at the theater as a first run. Stallone is known as a physical actor, that is, he relies more on being a brute.

Depending on who is writing the script (and director), he is able to pull off a fine leading roll.

In the end, it's nearly a toss up for me. But my go to is Rambo - First Blood (1982). Such smart survivalist vengeance dealt to people (small town power drunk chief of police and his cronies) that he did not provoke. He just wanted to be left alone to the end. In the last installment of the franchise, Rambo - Last Blood (2019) he bumped it up several notches. I wasn't expecting that. But this time his mission is to help others. Again, very clever script combined with his ruthless combat skills against the cartel. Brains and brawn.

It's actually one of the better overall movies: the writing/story structure.

My only gripe is Talia Shire - every generation's worst living actress.

On a side note, even as a kid I found it odd that there was a Rambo cartoon and toy line, considering most kids werent allowed to watch the movies in the first place. Same with the Robocop cartoon/toy line.

Rocky is a great movie, but he’s a glorified punching bag.

Not Rocky or Rambo… but I love this scene! 

They Live was a prophetic documentary. 

We're now living in a cross between They Live and Idiocracy.

Cobra is another good Stallone movie.
