Motorband (Czech Metal/Hard Rock)
I stumbled upon the Czech metal/hard rock band Motorband some time ago and have continued to really enjoy their tunes. I've posted about 'em here before, but they deserve their own thread. They're not a Christian band, though Libor the main guy is a professing Christian and quite outspokenly politically conservative which I really appreciate as well. He's very friendly and I have had numerous very positive interactions with him. (Ha, as I type this, their song Mayday just came up on shuffle!) They've got a new album in the works for which they're doing a crowd-funding for. I just pre-ordered my CD. Since it's all in Czech, Libor had me paypal the band the $$$ and they'll handle the rest on their side. I definitely recommend checking them out!

I just struggle to enjoy songs in a language I don't understand. And they have a song called God Is You so I'm curious.

I hear ya.
As for that God Is You song... I'm curious too. That's definitely not a title I would've picked... That's their latest single from the upcoming album. The lyrics are available on youtube. Google Translate isn't perfect, so it's difficult to say what's lost in translation, but here they are below. But it seems to be just using Christian imagery to say that you can choose to be good or bad, and that life is valuable and meaningful. That's what I got out of it anyways.
1) I had a strange dream
And in him I hear, you are a creator, so try.
God tells me, stop looking for me, you are me.
2) I wonder what he meant that I have the power of God?
he was funny, trust me, haha.
Pretend I'm a god
that was it, I wanted to laugh
Br: Stop looking in the sky
god is you
You have your faults too, you'll understand one day.
Ref: I, you, we, you, we are divine at the core
you don't have to take it, but that's okay.
I, you, you, we, go to the leather market
to give love, and to fall asleep with hope every night.
3) I had another dream,
He told me, you are the devil, believe me.
God tells me, so do not doubt, you are more than me!
4) You have the right to choose, god or devil
and you can choose yourself.
He wanted to tell me that human life is more than him.
Br: Stop........................
Ref: Me, You...................

Well, Calvin spoke about a “spark of divinity” in mankind, so maybe that’s what they mean?

I asked Libor on FB about the lyrics and he said they're difficult to explain since English is not his first language. he's going to ask a friend who's more confident in English to write up an explanation. I'll keep y'all posted.

Alrighty, well I got a thoughtful response back with some more details. They did stress the comical and open-ended aspects of the song so I think my initial interpretation is somewhat accurate and I think I'll stick with it, though admittedly the lyrics do still make me a bit uneasy.
The song seems to touch upon the idea that each individual possesses godly or divine qualities within them.
The lyrics depict a dream where the protagonist hears a voice, possibly representing God, telling them to stop searching for the divine externally because they are already divine themselves. The humorous tone suggests a lighthearted approach to this revelation.
The lyrics also mention the protagonist questioning what it means to have "godly strength" and being told by God that they are God. This revelation is described as something unexpected and almost comical, evoking a desire to laugh. The song then suggests that searching for God in the heavens is unnecessary because the divine essence resides within oneself, flaws included.
The second dream mentioned in the lyrics takes a different direction, suggesting that the protagonist is told they are the devil. The lyrics imply that this revelation is also significant, emphasizing the idea that human life is more than just being aligned with God or the devil. The song encourages individual choice and suggests that human existence holds greater importance than the binary notions of divinity.
Overall, this song appears to delve into philosophical and existential themes, encouraging listeners to explore their own sense of self and question traditional notions of divinity.

That's pretty yin/yang sounding.
