Whitecross or Guardian

Whitecross blew out of the gates with two strong albums while Guardian's first wasn't as strong but then crushed it with the next two.
Slight nod to Guardian partly because those albums held up better imo.

Tough one. I love the first 5 Whitecross and the first 3 Guardian. Miracle Mile is probably my favorite album between the two and Guardian’s first 3 are all more consistent than any WC, as WC typically has at least 1 skip song per album.

Despite the awesomeness of Miracle Mile and the almost-as-much-awesomeness of Fire and Love, I’m gonna have to give it to Whitecross. They have more albums I like. But dang it’s close.

I felt by Triumphant Return, WC started to fall off but they had similar trajectories.

TR is actually my least favorite of the first 3, although I still like it a lot. I enjoyed the more Van Halen-ish touches they brought on the next two.

Honestly, if Jamie Rowe had been on board for First Watch, that might’ve swayed this in favor of Guardian.

I haven't listened to much of these 2 either. But what I have heard, it's been from Whitecross' early days (which you are both saying were the better albums) and Guardian's non-metal albums (SSS, Buzz and Bottlerocket).
So I need to go back and listen to both of their early albums I guess.
It's these posts where I feel like a complete noob. I've been a rabid fan of Christian metal for about 25 years and I don't even know half of the standards.

Definitely check out Guardian's Fire and Love and Miracle Mile, if nothing else. Commercial metal at its finest.

Both are strong bands with some great material between them.
I don't listen to either that much currently, but when I want to, Guardian takes the nod because I really like Miracle Mile and First Watch.

Guardian barely. First of all, when I think Guardian I think Jamie Rowe. First Watch is great, but I discovered the band after that so it is just different to me. Fire and Love is one of my top three albums of all time. Miracle Mile is amazing too and I even like Swing, Buzz, and Bottle Rocket to some degree.

Whitecross = Scott/Rex the way Guardian = Rowe to me. I agree with Pethead that every album has at least one skip song (especially the ballads). Overall, they're still really good too.

I gotta go with Whitecross for the first album alone. It was the first metal album I ever bought, and I killed that thing back in those days. When I want to listen to Whitecross, it’s almost always the album I pull out. I simply love it.

Guardian did some amazing things and I really enjoy their albums too.

Love the first 3 Whitecross albums, some of In the Kingdom and a couple more from later albums
Conversely, Gardian has recorded NOTHING that appeals to me.

It’s so tough to choose…both have great early albums. Both have two elite axe masters in Tony Palacios and Rex Carroll…but I think the edge would go very slightly to Guardian. As stated by a few posts before, I think Guardians songs have held up very well. But I still love the in your face rawness of Whitecross

Both are great bands so I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other. They both have some great songs. Because of Jesus is still one of my favorites by Whitecross. If I had to choose, I would pick Guardian.

I'd have to pick Whitecross, but both their early stuff is great. Guardians Fire and Love is amazing, such a slick, compelling, well-crafted album. I think I have to look at both bands worst albums to make a difference. Whilst Whitecross' later albums aren't great, Guardians Bottle Rocket is the worst of the lot. I guess it's probably not an awful album, it's just so far away from Fire and Love, that it's kind of jarring when listening to them one after the other.

Some Great music by both, imo, but I got my wife to go see WC, and she enjoyed herself.....so, I go with WC, but I don't consider it a contest, cause they both are important in my history. Very Happy

As far as songwriting, Guardian.

Even though they did become more radio friendly, I have to go with Whitecross overall. The albums with Rex were more consistent overall. Guardian kept morphing and never had that consistency.
