Favorite Iced Earth album?

I’m going The Glorious Burden, followed by Night of the Stormrider. What say ye?

There are too many slow songs on SWTWC for me. But I like some of it. I prefer The Dark Saga overall, though.

Well they used to be called Purgatory, but since some other band had the rights, the name was changed. Supposedly Iced Earth was a name Schaffer and a friend had thought up when they were kids. This same friend passed away and Jon renamed the band Iced Earth in honor of him. The song "Watching Over Me" from SWTWC is about/dedicated to him as well.

I can NOT WAIT to hear Schaeffer's post-prison material.

He was angry when he wrote Burnt Offerings and that’s a killer album.

I expect him to end up back in prison with the vitriol he'll unload. Question is: who will play with him?

LOL! Good question.
I think it'll be more a matter of time (or a matter of pardons LOL!).
Know one really knows exactly how all this is going to pan out.
He'll still have the stigma of what happened surrounding him no matter what.
That being said, there are lots of people still left in this world who don't outsource their critical thinking. I don't think he'll have too much trouble finding a new lineup if/when the time comes.

Maybe we'll get a sequel to Horror Show, I wouldnt mind seeing that (Dont think there have been any songs about Chucky, the Babadook, or It yet, so there's 3 options for songs right there).

I'm not exactly the biggest Iced Earth fan, but if he gets to release an actual new album I'll seriously consider buying a copy. Not that I approve of his behavior but because I find the reaction of at least part of the metal community way overblown. I mean I'm still disappointed in Hansi Kürsch for ending Demons & Wizards over this...

What does everyone think of The Dark Saga? People seem to either love it or hate it.

It's a great album. 

They were one of my favorite bands for years. 

The Glorious Burden was the last truly great Iced Earth album IMO.

Of the albums after that, Dystopia was really good. 

The rest have a few songs here & there, but generally I don't really care for them as much.

Not a big IE fan but I really like The Glorious Burden, especially the Gettysburg Trilogy. Fantastic!

Horror Show, Framing Armageddon, Incorruptible

Gettysburg 1863 is my favorite Iced Earth song.

Yes, Gettysburg (1863) is an epic metal masterpiece. 

I'm kind of a history buff, so I really enjoyed the entire album from a lyrical and topical standpoint. The music of course is amazing as well.

The Iced Earth Gettysburg DVD is great as well. There's a cool section where Jon took a tour of the battlefield. Good stuff.
