Re: Mortification top ten songs
I could've just said Scrolls... but that just wouldn't be right!
Terminate Damnation
Nocturnal
Lymphosarcoma
Necromanicide
Death Requiem
Journey of reconciliation
Destroyer beholds (the smurf Song)
Satan's Doom
Valley of Shadows
Butchered Mutilation
like a heap more though. A couple of Blood World and most of Primitive. after that, things just get real sketchy. The lyrics become child like as does the covers and the music is inconsistent and vocals "often" really bad (some of which are merely talking in a grunt like manner. And what in the world made Steve think he could actually sing... was there no one there to filter the guy... Get the impression Jayson was that filter) I gave most of the newer stuff a good go I think, but yeah, can't do it for the most part, it's quite embarrassing. Scribes of the what now!!! What kind of kindergarten metal. And what in Eternia is Realms of the Skelataur and do I really want to know...
Steve had some good musicians on board (and some average) but the chemistry wasn't there. Still think he should've played bass and wrote the music with some co writers and got a new vocalist. Really believed this would've helped tremendously in the quality coming out rather than the sheer quantity. Oh well, that ain't gonna change. But! They did create the best death metal album ever IMO and two really outstanding albums hanging in the air like quotations to either side of it. Ostensibly, or so it seems to me, Jayson held accountability for consistency in all aspects- lyrics, music, art etc, is the impression I get. Imagine if those three guys had stuck at it all the way through. Imagine the albums we would've had...
Anyway, rant over.
Thanks for your lists. Was gonna try and make a generic kind of top 10 based on the lists. I'll try later. I know Monks is definitely on there.
