Favorites of 2022 so far! (Christian)

I know we usually do a favorites list at the end of the year, but I’m curious as to what has impressed you so far. This might be a good chance for us all to discover some cool music we might have missed!

For me, my top 3 is easy: 

1. True Strength: The House, the Holy, the Third
2. Trinity: Memories of the Ancient Presence 
3. Omegashift: Doctrine of Dust 

There are others I’ve enjoyed, but those are aces. 

I do imagine that Tourniquet and Saint could knock True Strength off their pedestal, though.

What say ye?

Right now, my favorite albums of 2022 so far in no particular order:

1) The Reconciled - Skin And Bones
2) True Strength - The House, The Holy, The Third
3) Reign Of Glory - All Will Bow
4) Fear Not - Fields Of Sorrow
5) Time Horizon - Power Of Three

I’m looking forward to Saint, Tourniquet, The Brave and hopefully Ritual Servant by the end of the year. This is shaping up to be a solid year for new music!

I liked Fields of Sorrow overall, although there were a few songs that did nothing for me. I’m looking forward to hearing Reign of Glory, but I’d like to preview it before I buy because I thought the singles so far were hit and miss.

Ever since I joined the forum a few months ago I've been catching up on years & years of music. So I have not really been paying attention to what is new and what's not. 

I'm waiting for the new Theocracy album to come out. There hasn't been an update in awhile, but it was supposed to come out quite a while ago, me thinks.
I haven't listened to Fields of Sorrow yet. I like the s/t so I'll check this out yet.
I really enjoyed aspects of Omegashift, but I wouldn't put their music as a favourite of mine.
I've listened through True Strength 3 or 4 times, but it's been when I've been working so I haven't paid close enough attention to comment properly on it.

FYI, Fields of Sorrow is very different from the debut. The debut was hair metal. FoS is a blend of classic and modern sounds with a big dose of southern rock.

2022 has been a little sparse in terms of quantity thus far, though it's made up for it in quality. These three have especially impressed me and are set to be Kerrick-favorites for a long time haha:

Flood was good. Probably #4 for me right now. Great to hear Gary and Guy back together. 
I still need to check out the Camelot Redux.

I also enjoyed Brotality's The Woods Will End You a lot. I think it's overall a stronger album than Worldwide Desolation.

Reign of Glory: All Will Bow could be an AotY contender for me.

Lots of okay albums, nothing stands out too highly except the new one by The Brave but I have hopes for some listed that hopefully show up this year.

Deliverance Camelot rerecord. I wasn't fond of the original 1995 Camelot and it was one of my least favorite Deliverance albums along with River Disturbance. From What I heard of the new Camelot it seems to be a lot better. I got the deluxe 2 CD/DVD digipak and vinyl a few months back and I haven't listened to it. I really like the artwork and the additions to the album. It's a great collector's item. I'm not sure if this counts as 2021 or 2022 - I'll have to look at the year. I guess you can count it as a new release where it was completely rerecorded from the bottom up. 

I'm not sure if I have other 2022 releases. I bought a mix of older and newer releases and reissues since August of last year and it's hard to remember.

I will be ordering the new Fear Not and Reign of Glory. Reign of Glory features members of Vengeance, Die Happy, Red Sea, Crucified and Firewolfe.

Saint's new one Heaven Fell hopefully will be out this year. Stryper's new one The Final Battle is due out in October. 

Jerusalem, MASS, Impellitteri, Saint Worldview/George Ochoa  and a few others are said to be working on new albums but I doubt they will be out this year.

I'm looking forward to see what Les Carlson will be doing as well. I think he has an full album in the works. He released 1 song so far.

I haven't been convinced yet by Christian releases this year. But there are a few that I'm keeping an eye on or that I will come back to. I'll break them down in categories.

Based on what I have heard so far from Stryper I think they will win it.  And I never thought I would say that.

I just listened to Preterist today for a 2nd time.  It already went on my Top 10 list the 1st time....right now it is in the Top 2.

It's interesting, they used the font of a band called Portrait and after a listen, the sound is similar to a degree. Also reminds me of modern Queensryche.

It’s an amazing album. 

It also makes me wish for more metal bands named after random theological positions. Personally, I’m hoping for a doom band called Traducianist.
