Which Version of 'Judas Kiss' is better?
Best Version of Judas Kiss

My vote goes to OBP. It could be b/c it's the first version I heard and I didn't even know it was a cover for, like, 10 years or so. But I love the energy and intensity; seems to fit the subject matter.

The OBP is fun, but Petra. And it’s not close. Timeless riff, timeless vocal, timeless song.

Petra by a universe, a galaxy, a dimension, and then a whole other solar system.
Can't beat early Petra, that stuff is unaware of just how cool it actually is.
One bad pig's version is cool, if you're twelve or thirteen and got a skateboard

One Bad Pig version is fun and I enjoy it more.
But when I was a kid, Petra version was probably my very favorite song for a couple years. They take it based on og points IMO.

More Power To Ya was the first "rock" record I ever heard as a kid. I was a devotee through This Means War, after which I moved on to hard rock/metal and of course eventually to "extreme" or whatever we used to call stuff. I haven't listened to Petra since, and haven't really listened to a note since then. So that's what I mean when I say I enjoy OBP more, I just wouldn't listen to Petra stylistically. BUT have to respect how much I loved it when I loved it! Hope that makes sense.

I love One Bad Pig but Petra takes this with ease. There are OBP originals that I prefer over Petra songs but I'm not sure it is possible for them to cover a Petra song and outdo the original.
Kudos to One Bad Pig for covering Petra though. Any other good Petra covers out there? I'd be interested if there are any metal covers. Surprising there aren't Bema Seat or It Is Finished covers done in metal fashion.

Not having listened to Petra in decades, somehow from WAY back in the day I always thought a kind of Klank/Fear Factory "It Is Finished" was a slam dunk for somebody. Just interesting that you mention that one specifically.

Not sure about Bema Seat or It Is Finished but I know the Galactic Cowboys do a great cover of Not Of This World on a compilation cd of cover songs with various artists. To answer this poll, I’d have to go OG …. Petra’s Judas Kiss from More Power To Ya was and is a classic. I do love OBP’s version though…a lot of fun….but I’ll go with the original every time.

I originally heard this on The Extremely Loud Guitar Tape and had never heard any other OBP songs. And then I didn't listen to any other OBP for years after that. So I didn't view OBP as a goof-off band at all. Now I know better...

And I never listened to any Petra either. I went straight from Michael W. Smith & D.C. Talk to Vengeance Rising and Stryper. I Kinda missed a step there: Geoff Moore & the Distance, Whiteheart, and Petra!

Anyhoo- Whiteheart and petra albums I highly recommend if you going to give them a shot-
Whiteheart: Freedom, Powerhouse, Tales of Wonder and Highlands. Especially the first three and doubly especially the first one (Freedom) Other worthy mentions- Don't wait for the movies and Emergency Broadcast.
Petra: for me, anything from Beat The System back! But you may like the Jon Schlitt years (many do).

I did a quick google search before creating the poll to see if any other bands had covered it and I didn't find anything. I guess my musical knowledge was subpar again! I'm going to listen to this version right away if I can find it on a streaming platform.
