Eluveitie - Folk Death Metal from Switzerland
I stumbled upon this band last week while searching for recent concert videos on YouTube. I'm a fan of live instruments rather than samples, so this was fantastic.
Side note: our family had been introduced to the hurdy-gurdy a few years ago when my son built a very basic model of one, so it was real cool to hear and see a professional one played. Time stamps for hurdy gurdy video: 15:45, 18:50.

I keep postponing checking these guys out. I love me some melodeath-y folk metal (Ensiferum!) but I believe the clean vocals are all female, which I rarely enjoy.

Yes, the clean vocalist is female.

I liked the first couple albums, especially Slania, but I got bored with the style.

I am almost sure Christian Glanzmann (the front dude) used to run a Christian metal zine in Switzerland in the early 90s but I have no evidence to back this claim.

I'm pretty sure I would as well. I'd probably make a playlist of their top 10 hits or so, and end up only listening to them.

Seems I recall them having a Christian member early on but they didn't last long.Raegoul wrote:I am almost sure Christian Glanzmann (the front dude) used to run a Christian metal zine in Switzerland in the early 90s but I have no evidence to back this claim.
