So while going through Stryper-related albums, I came upon this one which had Robert Sweet and Tim Gaines, as well as Rex Caroll. What did everyone think of this album? I think it's got some decent hard rocking numbers like Hard Road to Go and Stand Up and Fight, though there's some stuff that didnt really grab me like Touch the Fire or Face to Face.

It's not bad but it could have been better.  There are too many ballads and there's something about the production that bothers me (producers, and people with that talent, help me out).  Most of the good songs were re-recorded on Maximus anyway.

Also, at the time metalhead-me thought I was getting a cross between Stryper and Whitecross.  I wasn't.

I would love to hear new music in the Maximus vein from them.

P.S. Someone on this forum years ago pointed out the album cover looks like a KJV book on CD cover, not a metal album cover (I wonder if that was an attempt at parody on their part).

P.P.S. I used to think the "Ricky..." line in Hard Road to Go was a cheesy fictional character until at a concert once Jimi said it was about his brother.  Lines like "turn against your mother, turn against your brother" went from cheesy to deep and personal instantly.

It did have too many ballads, but overall it smoked!
