Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
I was just thinking, since I never bought any of the reissues, that I hoped Girder would reissue these with a great booklet so I could finally have the lyrics in hand for Haunts. I guess that won't be happening. This has a two panel insert. That means either a single slip card with credits and no lyrics (almost certainly) or lyrics in a jammed size 6 font.
I like the artwork for Haunts better, so that's cool, but I really want a decent reissue with a booklet.

Awesome!!!
The remaster sounds like an improvement.
The album cover is too, but i prefer the other logo.

Probably won’t buy these again, but good to hear! Both are necessary albums for any Christian thrash collection. (Although Haunts is easily my favorite of the two).

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
I didn’t like the previous remaster for Haunts… I still have a used original REX copy though! I have actually had it on cassette as a new release back in the day. I owned it once or twice on cd. I may have stupidly sold it. At least I have it again (for the lyrics booklet)!
The artwork on the new reissue is cool, but a bit strange. It has a completely different vibe that doesn’t look like it matches the supernatural “haunt” concept. It’s almost like a early Bolt Thrower cover. But it’s no big deal…
I hope the new remaster sound better in my car!

Yeah, the new Haunts cover doesn’t fit the album at all, IMO.

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
I never heard of Marc Felish (the guy that did the remastering).
I’m really hoping he got a good balance of treble and bass on these. Most remasters are usually muddy and too much bass. You can’t have that crisp cutting edge without the proper treble levels.
I also want these because the band gets the money! Long overdue!

Man, the updates just keep coming with these guys! Really cool! I’m very interested in these if they are significantly better remasters than previous attempts. I think it’s also cool that these where the band’s visions for the artwork and they are releasing it as originally intended after all these years!

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
After listening they sound much "richer" to me. The low end is much better with improvement in the base and the drum sound. Haunts sounds much fuller overall and Testimony is better balanced then the older reissue

Is it just me or do these remasters sound better than all previous attempts?

I’m waiting to hear them in my car, but I think you’re right! And these are the first remasters approved by the actual band.

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
So, either they found somebody that really knows what they are doing or the remasters performed by the usual suspects don’t know what they’re doing (perhaps a combo of both).

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
I don’t like when a label uses the “in house engineer” aka (the same guy) for every project. It gets redundant (especially if you don’t necessarily like their work). For example… I really like Andy Sneap’s skills as a recording engineer for the punchy loud stuff, but he can sometimes get too sterile and digital. I think it’s necessary to get fresh blood to break the cookie cutter mold. Depending on the music and style…
Recently, some guys have been recording in analog, but using pro-tools software. You get the warm sound, but without the burden of manual editing.

It’s amazing how impactful some remasters are versus some that just seem to go through the motions without really knowing how to improve the sound. Boils down to nothing more than marketing if the sound can’t be improved fairly significantly.

- in case anybody cares...
I'm not positive but have reason to suspect these are CDr not CD...
- interesting about the logo... I actually prefer the "corporate" logo myself

Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
On their bandcamp site it says they are normal CDs. Are they not required to say if they are CD-r? I wouldn’t knowingly pay $12 for a burned CD…
I guess I’ll soon find out.

My experience, anywhere, including bandcamp, is that they
don't necessarily differentiate...I have asked many a time to find
that, even though descriptions say "CD", they reply that it
is in fact a CDr...
I was disappointed to find that the Wisdom & Wages disc is
a CDr. Had no idea until I opened it... It was $12 which is
steep for CDr, especially when you don't know that's what it is.
Though I suppose the limited edition of 100 could account for
the price...
Re: Sacrament albums reissued again
Sounds the same regardless. Couldn’t really care less what the CD looks like. It’s not like the band is getting rich off of the offering.

Thanks for noticing that. I did a double take when I saw it was $12. I was almost certain that I paid $10 for each CD.
