Question about W.A.S.P.
The question came up about listening to secular music. While I believe a Christian can, there may be artists that can still leave us feeling smarmy. W.A.S.P. is one that I just haven't delved back into, but I can remember liking their early music as a teen. Here's a question for you W.A.S.P. fans:
Are there albums that contain more anti-Christ lyrics? Are there songs that really make you uncomfortable for you as a fan and a Christian? I have downloads of the two most recent albums of theirs where Blackie is now a fellow believer, but I would like to check some of their stuff out again. What would you consider off-limits as a believer in Christ, or is there anything in their catalog like this for you?

Re: Question about W.A.S.P.
Besides the two recent ones, I have:
The Headless Children
The Crimson Idol
Dying for the World
I personally have little issue listening to any of these. The occasional swearing doesn’t really bother me and there are some interesting ideas on these albums. However, I am very sensitive to sexual content, so there’s some of their stuff that I personally would not feel comfortable spinning. But that’s a personal call, not a judgment on anyone else!
From what I understand, the first 3, KFD, and Helldorado have the worst lyrics. As such, I’ve avoided those. But someone who has more of their albums might be able to help more.
Every WASP I have rules. But I probably won’t ever spin all their albums due to some of their lyrics. But like I said, that’s a personal conviction, not necessarily a biblical rule.

Agree with Pethead on the albums listed and would add the two Neon God albums. I also have songs from the other albums and have edited out the more foul ones.

Re: Question about W.A.S.P.
I don't have any WASP but if I were to buy his albums I would buy those since his conversion back to Christianity in the mid to late 2000s which I think were Babylon (2009), Golgotha (2018)and the Crimson Idle remake (2018). I'm not sure if Dominator has any Christian themed lyrics. The song Golgotha is one of the most annointed songs I heard in metal. One time I was doing some rennovations in the apartment part of my house and I wa slistening to Golgotha on youtube on my Samsung phone and it seems the Holy Spirit is all over this. That vibe comes through in the music. Have others here felt the same thing for that album?

The Christian-themed songs on Dominator are Take Me Up, Heavens Hung in Black, Heavens Blessed, and Deal with the Devil.

Re: Question about W.A.S.P.
So basically some of the songs of the the WASP catalogue from Dominator (2007) to current have songs with Christian themes. Is Dominator the first WASP album to have Christian themes? If so, Blackie likely came to the faith in the mid 2000s. I think I might check out these albums.

Re: Question about W.A.S.P.
There are some Christian-ish themes on Dying for the World, but there’s some coarse language, as well.

There may always be a few songs that are unacceptable or bothersome, but you can burn a CD or make a playlist of just the songs you like.

Re: Question about W.A.S.P.
I traveled to Virginia this week to see my cousin. I listened to W.A.S.P. going up and during the trip. I enjoyed the first albums but I expected to just out of nostalgia. The rest of the catalog is good, but most is mixed so loud that it gives me ear fatigue.
