Kenn Nardi - Trauma
"From the halls of the sanctuary
Comes a distant cry
Protocols of truth lie buried
And the word denied
Have you forgotten grace?
Did you forget what bought and brought you here?
Did you forget your place?
Did you forget that you are fallen too?
We are only worthy of the righteous judgement coming
And we are only worthy of what we give for what is taken
And we are only worthy of wrath
There, but for the grace of God, go I
Still we are given mercy
Because the blood and grace are greater
As you play judiciary
From your seat on high
In the role of the adversary
Do you right divide?
Have you forgotten love?
Did you forget the price your vices owed?
All you're deserving of?
Did you forget that you are guilty too?
We are only worthy of the righteous judgement coming
And we are only worthy of what we give for what is taken
And we are only worthy of wrath
There, but for the grace of God, go I
Still we are given mercy
Because the blood and grace are greater
Self-appointed emissary
With a fist and a shout
And the fire of a missionary
You drive them out
Have you forgotten?
Do you strut the yoke that you still wear?
Have you forgotten?
Did you forget its weight you could not bear?
We are only worthy of the righteous judgement coming
And we are only worthy of what we give for what is taken
And we are only worthy of death
There, but for the grace of God, go I
Still we are given mercy
Because the blood and grace are greater"

Wait, is he a Christian? Screams and Whispers is such a great album and this sounds great.

I think he said in at least 1 interview that he was and 1 song on the previous album seemed strongly to be along those lines as well.

I was browsing Divebomb Records' roster (because of Thee Final Chaptre) and stumbled upon Kenn Nardi. This sounds great. I glanced through an interview and he is indeed a professing Christian so that's cool. I gotta look more into this project!

Re: Kenn Nardi - Trauma
This album is long but excellent. I would like a few heavier tracks but it does get pretty metal at times.
The production is excellent. Nice to hear his characteristic vocals and songwriting again.
One of the best modern metal albums around IMHO.

Both albums are quickly moving to the top of my wantlist... This is some great stuff and might fill the gap that Wovenhand and 16 Horsepower left after I purged all my CDs of theirs.

Re: Kenn Nardi - Trauma
I usually hate albums with drum machines, but somehow he even programmed this one so it has 'feel' on some fills. I noticed that towards the end of the album on at least one fill in particular.
I wonder if he got an actual drummer to program these beats because they're well-done.

May I ask why you tossed the 16HP and WH?
Regarding the thread, Anacrusis and Kenn Nardi rule! I need to hear the new as the last one was great. They are obscenely long, though.

In short, I had a bizarre interaction with them online that totally turned me off... (I still mourn the loss of the music lol because they were two of my favorite bands! I owned all of their CDs and had seen WH play live numerous times.) Basically on WH's FB page, they posted a photo of Biden and Harris. I sad-faced it, they called me out about it (fair enough!) asking why, I mentioned their stance on abortion saddened me, and then WH got really weird: incredibly and unnecessarily condescending and downright mean. I remained very respectful and calm but they went ballistic over my "chauvinistic" ways or whatever. They have Christian lyrics but everything about the interaction was especially un-Christian. I'm pretty certain DEE runs their FB page and not some fan. After that, their music was just tainted to me and I could no longer enjoy it. :/
(Sorry to derail the thread...)

Re: Kenn Nardi - Trauma
Thanks for the reply.
On the topic of Kenn Nardi...
A friend saw them in St. Louis when they played all 4 Anacrusis albums. I told him that I was envious and he that I should not be.
"There's nothing worse than standing for 4 hours when you have sciatica."
He got to meet Kenn and said he was very nice and appreciative of the support.

I had the same kind of response from Dee about a question I asked and he got real snarky. I haven't dumped the music but I hardly listen to it now.

Re: Kenn Nardi - Trauma
^Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. A friend from church who used to be a big WH/16HP fan had a similar experience. I guess he's posted some really bizarro stuff comparing George Floyd to Jesus that turned my friend off. Yikes...
Anyways, on topic... there's a nice interview with Kenn Nardi here. They talk primarily about music and less so lyrics/faith/etc., but it's a good watch. He did mention not having any moral issues as a Christian playing the old Anacrusis material since it was a snapshot of where he was at at the time, though no longer representative of him now. Kenn seems like a super friendly and very genuine fella. I chatted with him briefly over FB and had a very positive interaction. I mentioned this thread to him which he was already aware of and invited him here; I hope he comes and says hi!
