A Few Quick Thoughts On The Brand New Song By Styx, Crash Of The Crown

Latest blog with some thoughts on the brand new song by Styx called Crash Of The Crown.  The song is from their upcoming album of the same title.

I'm not as into the new song as you are, it's ok imo but I'm excited for a new album by them. If it's near as good as the last one I'll like it.

Musically I think it has a great prog rock feel, except for the part that is discoish. Vocally it's a train wreck, except for the harmonies.

JY's vocals are the weakest part. Really cool song though. I've always loved this band.

After several listens I really was able to get into the song.

The big vocals harmonies are amazing.

I have been a fan since the mid 70's.

 Many of the tunes on the new album have their signature sound.
Some songs take me back to their 70's sound and that's a good thing!
The title track song above is NOT typical of the rest of the album.
I'm not disappointed after one spin.

Glad to hear!  I have not received my copy in the mail yet.  I am reading mostly positive responses from other Styx fans on social media.  The Mission is an amazing album and from what I hear so is Crash Of The Crown.  It is a great time to be a Styx fan as well as a Kansas fan with both putting out some of their best music in ages.

I had this album playing on a loop today in the background.
Each time it sounded better and better

Yes it does get better with each play.  I am so glad that band is recording new music and that the new music is so good.
