Do long threads automatically split into two threads and lock the original one at some point?

The thread called "The high profile person recently died thread" seemingly did that when I posted to it yesterday. Never seen that and wondering...

Yup, you're right.  The "What are you currently listening to" threads have done that a few times now too.

Interesting! Not long ago I was referring back to the beginning of the high profile thread. I wonder if the beginning pages are lost forever?

They're not lost forever.  Smile  After a while of no activity, they go to a hidden archived section of the forum that the mods have access to.
