Yeah you've definitely gotta be in the right mood for his music, but when I am, it definitely hits the spot haha.

Motley Crue-Save Our Souls
Black Angels laughing in the city streets
Street toys scream in pain and clench their teeth
The moonlight spotlights all the city crime
Got no religion, Laugh while they fight
Save our souls for the heavens
For a life so good it sure feels bad
Save our souls for the heavens
Save our souls for the promised land
Sweet tarts play the game and shoot to thrill
Runnin free through the trash, dressed to kill
The midnight show-stoppers, it's a funny money game
A hundred thousand bleeding hearts, put us in our graves Save our souls for the
heavens
For a life so good it sure feels bad
Save our souls for the heavens
Save our souls for the promised land
It s been the hard road, edge of an overdose
No matter how high you re still too low
I've been the dancer, the wicked romancer
It's a never-ending nightmare, edge of disaster

Maybe inspired by the Bible but songs like Sympathy for the Devil and Rock of ages aren't pro Christian.

Tru dat. The article does point out that Sympathy for the devil is through the devils perspective.Black Rider wrote:Maybe inspired by the Bible but songs like Sympathy for the Devil and Rock of ages aren't pro Christian.
The inspiration for Rock of Ages has an interesting back story that I was not aware of

Yeah, Def Leppard thought it was funny to take lyrics from a hymnal. Kind of dumb but It's a good song.

It's a great song, musically speaking.Black Rider wrote:Yeah, Def Leppard thought it was funny to take lyrics from a hymnal. Kind of dumb but It's a good song.
They also hilariously came up with non-words “gunter, glieben, glauten, globen.”

I thought it was Mutt Lange who would say that instead of 1, 2, 3 or w/e before they would start recording. He made it up because he was tired of saying '1 2 3.'oldschooldoom wrote:It's a great song, musically speaking.Black Rider wrote:Yeah, Def Leppard thought it was funny to take lyrics from a hymnal. Maybe not the intention of the band, but I always saw Black Sabbath's Wishing Well as a metaphor for God (with the wishing well being God in this case). There's a line that goes "let me fill myself with tears you cry" for example which could be about letting God deal with your burdens.

From the soon to be released (July 21) Greta Van Fleet album Starcatcher
Meeting the Master
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI8sAT9fIto
I've been waiting for so long
Final day to meet the master
It's my time to go home
And I'm taken
By the madness
And the tripping
And the touching
What a day to travel faster
Take my trip around the sun
I have known no other master
He has been the only one
Ooh, he was the only one
Ooh, the only one
And I'm taken
By the madness
And the tripping
And the touching
Ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram
Blow it up
To give him
All of our love
All of our love
Blow it up
To give him
All of our love
All of our love
Blow it up
To give him
All of our love

Forgive me if they’ve been mentioned, but wouldn’t several of Solitude Aeturnus’ early tunes fit here?

Re: Most 'Christian' song from a SECULAR metal or hard rock artist or band
NICE!!Pethead wrote:Opaque Divinity, Transcending Sentinels, Where Angels Dare to Tread, It Came upon One Night
3/4 of those songs are from their mighty first album
Into the Depths of Sorrow
The full album is here. Get your doom on!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d72j6GEgaJc
Opaque Divinity
The apostle awoke
Inside a dream
Revealing what shall come to be
With strengthened sight
Tears of stone fell from his eyes
Paving paths that none should follow
Behold the Beginning of Sorrows
Behold that which ascends with doom
When the great river has dried
We shall find the Kings from the East
Do not seal the words of prophecy
The time is soon at hand
He who is unjust - let him be unjust still
He who is righteous - let him be righteous still
And let he who walks on the path which is clear
Find peace within himself
We are our own
We reap what we sow
Heed the warning cast among ye
That bring sorrow upon the land
The cities will fall
The mountains will speak
Among plague's disease
Our efforts to weak
If this is to come
Once more shall we sing
And upon the Earth fall to our knees
Among all that we are and all that we may be
All that we may be...
Transcending Sentinels
I. Descent of the Angels
II. Prologue to the End
We've been here through all the circles
And lived with the godless tyranny
One day all of you shall be perfect
And understand this is to be
He has determined the future
All that was shall come to pass
Revel in the unseen forces
That bring his wisdom to the vast
Listen to the voice of the teacher
The peace and comfort that he brings
Love can save the world from its destruction
Pray that this shall come to be
Days will come of tribulation many men will die
Now that the Lord of Hosts is on the horizon
And with it brings the promises of plight
The Earth will soon be shaken
As the day becomes the night
Foretold we've come together as one
To prepare our children once again
Those who have chosen not to follow
Are damned to live it to the end
Where Angels Dare to Tread
Out of the sun appeared three men
Or so it seemed to be
Abram saw and rushed to greet
These godlike entities
Prepare a feast my chosen wife
That we may honor these
A festive mood soon turned to grief
When told their destiny
The leader spoke of degradation
That was close at hand
Came to verify a grievous outcry from the land
Be the people righteous souls
Then this I want to know
But if the accusation's true
To them my wrath I'll show
Where angels dare to tread
Where angels dare to tread
No one is forgiven unless they know the word
How can you speak what you haven't heard
Up to the gates of Sodom went Emissaries of the Lord
Lot was there and bowed to them
As Abram did before
Leave this city with wife and daughters
Unto the mountains thee
Death will come to sinners glory I tell you flee
Where angels dare to tread
Where angels dare to tread
No one shall be saved unless they see the signs
How can you see when you are blind
A chill is running through me
Remembering that day
Thoughts of pity and sorrow
For those about to die
It would seem as though the world will never change
On again this night
Tread the angels and I...
And from their sophomore release
Beyond the Crimson Horizon
is the song
It Came upon One Night
It came upon one night
When Nemesis besieged
Lightning streaked across the sky
And thunderclouds did scream
It came upon one night
On land the seas had turned
Typhoons swept with certain death
Air began to burn
Apocalypse is born
Nightmares will begin
It came upon one night so bittersweet the end
The world was cloaked in darkness
And winter brought the rain
A poisoned soul was pondering
This mortal fool's to blame
Defense became the joke of the day
Rivalry the nations now regret
Politicians threw our lives away
The day that dust and ice the Earth beset
Into battle cried the poor
As famine took its toll
The world had turned so desolate
That nothing much would grow
Apocalypse was born
Nightmares had begun
Nature claimed a victory
As neither side had won
The world was all asunder
When sorrow took a leave
Hatred fled when Christ returned to Earth as King...

Rob (Robert) Lowe the vocalist is a Christian and has been in Christian bands since SABlack Rider wrote:It's been awhile since I read it but I thought they had a member who claimed to bea Christian in the early days.
Lyle Steadham was the main lyricists during this era of SA. There are rumors of him being a Christian. I don't see him in any Christian bands.

I thought it was Lyle Steadham who was associated with Christianity and who wrote much of their early lyrics.

Steve Jones-God in Louisiana
On the fortieth floor of heaven, in the executive pent house suite
Sat commander & chief and creator, of the planets and galaxy’s
With a map of Louisiana and a file of photo and facts
He said look what these people, have done in my name
It’s a sin the way some of them act
Chorus
I said god, he was talking to Peter, now god he was talking to Paul
I said god, he was talking to Jesus
But god isn’t talking, to some of these people at all
I offer them peace they want vengeance, I offer them faith they want power
I offer them mercy not money, I offer them hope they complain by the hour
They poison themselves with their judgment, they flatter themselves with pride
I give them the truth that could set them all free
But they build up cathedrals in which they can hide
Chorus
I said god, he was talking to Peter, now god he was talking to Paul
I said god, he was talking to Jesus
But god isn’t talking, to some of these people at all
If you do it to one of these, do it to me
If you give it to one of these, give it to me
If you spit upon one of these, spit upon me
If you rip off lie to, hit on I tell you, you might as well do it to me ya, ya, ya

Doom from Pentragram's most recent album Curious Volume 2015
is the song Close the Casket
These times try hard to drag me down
But where I’ve been I’ve learned to abound
Well if I fall, that’s not all
For the love above has answered my call
My body shows age beyond its years
And underneath these scars are a billion tears
Through the eye of a needle that I’ve passed through
By the love above that never withdrew
The black passed away now my night is day
I close the casket on the old man’s ways
And now I see through the eyes that were blind
And close the casket as the old man dies
Been so far, been so near
High as the sun and dead to fear
But glitter ain’t gold in every dream
And the choice you make breathes eternally
The black passed away now my night is day
I close the casket on the old man’s ways
And now I see through the eyes that were blind
And close the casket as the old man dies

Where did you see that Lowe is a Christian? For some reason I had in my mind that the Christian-leaning lyrics of early SA were from someone else. Once Lowe started writing the lyrics, they became quite anti-Christian I thought. (It's been a looooong time since I looked into this so I may be wrong.) Lowe was just a hired gun for Last Chapter and didn't write anything, but some of the other bands that he's been an actual member of have some pretty un-Christian lyrics (Candlemass, Concept Of God, and of course Solitude Aeturnus).

I thought he was. Now I am not too sure.
A Christian who used to post at the forum that CMR came out of years ago said he was friends with Rob. He said Rob was a man of God. I took his word for it especially after seeing Rob being welcomed as the lead vocalist in the Christian band Last Chapter. This was around the time that Concept of God had released Visions. I assumed Rob was the lyric writer.
I have never seen that Lowe is a Christian. I never looked into it until now. I found nothing that supports he is a professed Christian. Yet in one interview I just looked at, he states that he believes in a higher power. He denounces satanism.
I pray that Rob Lowe is a Christian, I hope he is. Only God knows his heart. I will not judge.
Interesting that both the singer Rob Lowe and the actor Rob Lowe are about the same age, I don't know if either are Christians.
For Christs sake, I hope so.
