Waiting for disaster
Blackness in the night
I roam the world
To hear the cry
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
2000 brings
The untimely end
Of all living things
The Four Horsemen have started their ride
Can you see them in the sky
Glaring down at the ground
Smile on their face
As they commence
The end of the human race
Total devastation
Prepare yourself for death
This world's insane
Start your fields afire
Watching them burn
Tomorrow will be
Another world's turn
To win is the end
To be a part of judgment day
We should have listened
To what Christ had to say
Total devastation
Prepare yourself for death
This world's insane
What do you say
We all have our chances of living in peace
Now I'm afraid you're in too deep
What can you do when you're a fool
It all goes this way
You should have listened
To what Christ had to say
Total devastation
Prepare yourself to die
This world's insane
No no no no
This world's insane
Oh yeah
No no no no
Stop it

Re: Most 'Christian' song from a SECULAR metal or hard rock artist or band
In a darkened graveyard glows a light.
I see it shine there every night.
I know somewhere there's a hidden door.
There's an answer here we must explore.
No, I'll not submit to reason.
I'll sit and watch the seasons change.
We watch the children pray.
Save us God today,
Come whatever may.
We hold our fate and make the choice,
But we'll not listen to that still small voice.
Are we just crazy, out of our minds?
Wish this were someplace, another time.
We watch the children pray.
Save us God today,
Come whatever may.
And I know we're going
So far away from this wretched life we lead.
With open arms meet catastrophe,
In the valley of the damned we'll be.
And I know we're going
So far away from this wretched life we lead.
With open arms meet catastrophe,
In the valley of the damned we'll be.
We watch the children pray.
Save us God today,
Come whatever may.
And now to life we say goodbye.
I know the when but not the why.
Our nation's blood spills on the ground.
Our lives go out without a sound.

Metal Church has a few pseudo religious sounding songs, check out End of the Age.

Not metal. Not hard rock. But without looking deeply at the lyrics, you would think
George Harrison
really loved The Lord Jesus Christ
in the following song

Maybe not the most explicit but,Danger Line by Avenged Sevenfold may sound like a typical song about soldiers, but check out the later lyrics:
"Remind the Lord to leave his light on for me,,I'm free"

Re: Most 'Christian' song from a SECULAR metal or hard rock artist or band
Sonata Arctica's earlier stuff has a couple songs that seem to be referencing Christianity, particularly the bolded parts below from the first song off their third album:
Sonata Arctica - Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited wrote:Wake up my child, hope is here.
With the vengeance, we have no time to bleed.
My only world filled with fear.
I never saw the sower of the seed.
Where is the world we had,
who can ever save you and your little lives?
A child guides a child guided child.
A child is never guilty,
but you should not run free!
The grave is open,
let us pray without remorse.
Empty the cradle with,
fire for them once again.
Why not look through your fingers,
what they've done.
Your own blood will clean the blood,
for now the glory days are gone.
It's time for everyone,
to think what we have done.
Open your eyes and see,
it's not a dream.
You aim for a common goal,
you are one with your foe.
If only we could,
wake up soon and scream.
Abandoned, pleased, brainwashed, exploited!
Madness has a reason.
Throw money at the problem,
and it will remain.
Your life has no value for them,
violate me and this never ends.
My children will then hate you too.
The grave is open,
let us pray without remorse.
Empty the cradle with,
fire for them once again.
Why not look through your fingers,
what they've done.
Your own blood will clean the blood,
for now the glory days are gone.
Now, when it seems that,
we have nothing to believe in.
Maybe we should be waiting,
for the rock to come.
For our children soon,
have nothing they should learn.
The grave is open,
let us pray without remorse.
Empty the cradle with,
fire for them once again.
Why not look through your fingers,
what they've done.
Your own blood will clean the blood,
for now the glory days are gone.
It's time for everyone,
to think what we have done.
Open your eyes and see,
it's not a dream.
You aim for a common goal,
you are one with your foe.
If only we could,
wake up soon and scream.
It’s time for everyone to think what we have done
Open your eyes and see – it’s not a dream
You aim for a common goal
You are one with your foe
If only we could wake up soon and scream!

Kind of an obscure band
Peering out his window into a massive crowd He could see a million faces screaming hate out loud Without a clue or reason he held his sword up high He tried to fight the masses, then laid his head to die To die, ohh!! Hung above the city like the smoke that fills the air Arms stretched out above us and no one seemed to care His death was planned to save us, but the blind have not yet seen The evil that´s around us, the evil that´s between And though we cannot see him We know that he´s still there Fighting for our freedom To show that he still cares, oh! (Solo) He´s coming back to take us to the promised land He´s not gonna stop the pick the lawyers from the bands He knows if we´ve been waiting paying for our sin And he´s the one who will lead us there and god will let us in I´m not saying you should go to church Or listen to the priest Just remember he´s still out there He´s gone to fight the beast To fight! The Beast! |

Not the whole song, but Love Kills by the Vinnie Vincent Invasion has some interesting lines:
"Some day we'll meet again
Girl, that much I know
At Heaven's gate, we'll sing along"
Bear in mind, the rest of the song is a breakup song that was originally on the soundtrack to Nightmare on Elm Street 4, so the inclusion of that line is odd.

This band is actually still around, although I believe that all the members except the singer are new.WildWorld wrote:Kind of an obscure band
Their debut was a favorite is mine back in the day. There were a few Christian-friendly songs on it despite the band's horror image, but the sex song ("Teaser" - the standard crap) and maybe a few others showed that their thoughts were all over the place. The guitarist was really good though.

Ace Frehley has been mentioned a few times on page 1 of this thread. Another example from his repetoire is the song ROCK SOLDIERS. It's his account of being in a high speed pursuit and car crash in 1983 caused by his drinking and driving.
During the live version, he is known to get the crowd chanting "What's the devil gonna do? He's gonna play without an Ace in his deck!"

OMEN - Holy Martyr
One has seen the power and the glory
Whom shall save us from ourselves at last?
Prophets tell of latter years in mourning
Voices cry out warnings from the past
Disciples of the Dead Sea Scrolls are preaching
The soul of man lived from the dawn of time
With every passing day, mankind is reaching
For the gift of truth from the divine
Do we believe in the holy martyr?
What is the secret yet to be unveiled?
Offerings are made upon the altar
Hallowed be thy name, or has he failed?
Reverence is easy when you sing a gospel hymn
For the moment tranquil feelings do…

The majority of the Kingdom Of Might album by Woe Of Tyrants.
I’m pretty sure the vocalist/lyricist was a professing Christian, at least when he wrote these songs, but they were on Metal Blade and played secular tours, and in every interview I’ve been able to find, he downplayed any possibility of them being a Christian band and portrayed it more along the lines of those early Trouble albums trying to create a contrast with typical evil/blasphemous lyrics found in the scene, so I think this fits here. Either way, it’s a killer overlooked album with some rich lyrics. A couple of my favorite tracks:
Sounding Jerusalem:
A place with no night, a dormant holy bride.
With the Lamb, seated high, at the time we'll unite.
She's adorned, so full of life,
with no room for any words that attempt to speak of death,
as these things have passed away.
Neither sorrow, neither crying, neither shall there be any more pain.
As every old evil is washed away.
And he said "write: for these words, are true and faithful... I make all things new.
Neither sorrow, neither crying, neither shall there be any more pain in the new Jerusalem.
My dreams have been corrupted, there's something on my back,
digging deep into my skin, and every one of these demons live.
But they scatter at the sound, aware of all weakness,
as I speak His name, yes they'll tremble! ,
the anarchy has no place, in a city glowing of sardius.
With streets of gold, and a King upon the throne.
A new dwelling place. Descends from the sky, I can't believe it's our time.
I'll fly, atop the world oh so high,
meeting halfway to the sky, my new home,
where I will dwell, forever righteous.
Where I'll dwell, there will be no night.
For our faces glow at the sight of the king's court, stretching on into infinity.
A new life righteous, a brand new world.
Golgotha:
Was it a day, a day just like today?
Imagine, the same sun we know casting a haunting shadow upon the sand.
In a not so distant land, spectators breathing the air we breathe.
Casting the same rocks, sweating the same sweat,
Their eyes ablaze, glazed with an ancient gaze,
it was still the same, then as today.
The weight of the timber of that tree,
pails in comparison when contrasted with the weight of the world;
the shame and the pain, the burden we just couldn't bare.
The darkest day on the earth some would say,
the Light of the World searching ever ready to ignite.
The soldiers are tormenting bu they don't know why,
still He is speaking on their behalf.
This day would bring hope to us all.
There's imminent danger at hand, and in the sand we still stand.
With our spears ready to thrust, our feet creating dust.
And now it swirls like a tornado in hot pursuit of it's next building to collapse.
The thick glass we see through darkly, as we have smeared it with mud.
And somehow we still think it to be all about us,
But it's all about You.
I know I'm covered in filth, and I need to be cleaned.
For this curse is strong, but the cure is here,
and although I fall, I know that you're near.
I know that you're right here.
You're right here.

Just listened to T.T. Quick’s “Hell to Pay”. It could have been written by Saint or Messiah Prophet.
Put your evil ways aside,
Think all of the ones who've died
Take what you can get, you say
What 's the final price you pay
You thought you were gonna get away
But now there's gonna be Hell to Pay
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
Standing on the edge of time
Feel the power of the crime
Would you give your soul away
For everything you want today
You say, every one's gonna be there anyway
But now there's gonna be Hell to Pay
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
You gotta listen to what I say
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
Hell to Pay
You thought you were gonna get away
But now there's gonna be Hell to Pay
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
You gotta listen to what I say
There's gonna be Hell to Pay
There's gonna be Hell to Pay

Re: Most 'Christian' song from a SECULAR metal or hard rock artist or band
Wow! I've never heard this band till now. Love itConstantine wrote:Great topic, I thought of introducing it as well.
I have a good dozen examples, probably more.
I will start with these:
The Cross Lyrics:
Night calls upon my betrayal
Morn sees me denied three times
Believe in God, believe also in me
I am the way, the truth, and the Life
The truth I leave within you
You Judas, hear your fate and then carry it out
Once Satan's entered you, you'll turn right about
And Peter give your life up, or so you say
Instead your knowledge of me shall be erased
They take me away, to cast me from the world
My love won't die
Father forgive them, for they know not what they do
I have been judged to die upon the cross
These thorns released my earthly blood
Still hold your faith, aside from what you see
Bearing my cross, bearing all your sin
Oh, Golgotha, to the place of the skull
You sheep within my flock hear the truth of my life
The nails deep in my flesh, the pierce of the knife
Though evil strung me up and started time anew
Know that my life was given up for you
Open your hearts, I'll flow within
Widow's Mite (Chapter Eleven) lyrics:
Beware of the scribes
Parading in robes
The heavier the sentence
They'll follow in droves
You claim you are He
The time is at hand
The Earth shakes my bones
I don't understand
If you listen to me
You'll be eternally free
The widow puts in
More than the rest
You gave from your surplus
She gave it her best
You chorus from the rich
She gives from the poor
You laugh with the witch
She cries with the whore
Two copper coins
She gave it her best
Pray that you may not be
Put to the test
Blest are you
The hungry, the poor
The reign of God is yours
You can't ask for more
