I am comparing the new album to some of their most recent works. Tesla's albums in 2004 and 2008 were very modern sounding. At times, they come off like they wanted to have the Disciple sound without Kevin's screams.
Their first four albums are absolutely stellar.

Into the Now is modern in the production sense with a little more groove but it's still Tesla being Tesla

I get that, but there are a lot of similarities (minus Kevin's screams) to Disciple's sound on Southern Hospitality.
