I would be interested in the super group project. I liked First Watch a lot, and have found myself listening to it lately.

Michael Tyrrell (Doro Pesch, Mylon LeFevre) Lead Guitars,
Would have been interesting to hear this band; Paul Cawley sounds like Ted Pilot of Fifth Angel fame. Michael Tyrrell is a really busy guy though, he has this Wholetones business to work on. Would like to hear him rock again some day rather than just the nylon string mood tunes he does now.

Re: Original Guardian singer Paul Cawley resurfaces again
It's been a while since I popped in here, but I saw some posts about Guardian1 and figured I'd share.
Paul played guitar and was vocalist for Guardian1. He worked with Rikk Hart from the Guardian First Watch line-up on drums and Michael from Phantom Generation (who played Guitar, Bass and Keys) to create a demo in Michael's project studio that was intended to start something bigger. Plans didn't pan out so the demo was released as-is titled "Empire". Ron Campbell from Monsterus worked through his company UCreative to help Paul and Rikk get the cover art together I beleive. The 2011 recording is a bit rough around the edges but still a decent sounding effort. The Guardian1 website is gone, but there used to be a downloadable insert there with lots of info. Someone's probably got a copy of this.
One thing is for sure though. Paul can pop up anytime. He's got talent, a love for prog rock metal and Faith for days and days. I would never write him off.

I know little to nothing about Guardian, had their album "Buzz" back in the 90's, didn't much care for it.

See, I hate grunge, love 80s melodic metal, and I still love Buzz. I think it is a fantastic album. Bottle Rocket, not so much, but Buzz, I thought, has many great songs. I also loved the lyrical depth on that album.
However, there can be no doubt that Buzz sounds nothing like Fire & Love or Miracle Mile.

Grunge is fine, I just don't think Guardian ever did it well.

I'm in the minority and love the "Promis Man" album. Wish I knew about it during that time period.
Re: Original Guardian singer Paul Cawley resurfaces again
I thought the title track was decent, but didn't care for the album as a whole.

The HS album was better then the Guardian albums imo, I really liked their Larry Norman cover.

Agree, that HS album was not very good. A few songs were o.k., but nothing special.
Overall they did a better job at grunge than Guardian, but that's not saying much .
Sadly I paid full price ($13.99) for it at the Christian bookstore when it came out in 1995.
Got suckered in by the HS name. Back then we didn't have all the sound samples and previews that we have now

Remember reading that these bands changed their sound because the grunge sound was really where they were at the whole time? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

What I always roll my eyes over is when a band is interviewed for their most current album and they gush about how it's "the best thing we've ever done!"
Then, they come back for their next album and say "Oh that last album, we really weren't happy with it - but THIS new one is the best we've ever done!" Lol, Repeated ad nauseum....
