AGGELOS - Silentium
Silentium is the second full length for AGGELOS who come from Medellin, Colombia. AGGELOs (which means "Messanger") are a 5 piece band that formed in 2002 and are influenced by bands such as Antestor, Morphia and a band from my home City (Adelaide, Australia) Virgin Black. The album is a mix of male death vocals, haunting operatic female vocals and awesome musicianship all bought together with some A grade production.
The album starts out with slow keyboards which are some followed by some chunky guitar kicking of the second track. Highlighs are the songs PANTIS VITAE with it's growling vocal and some headbanging moments. NOCHE OSCURA with some beautifully place piano and ERGO FACTUM SILENTIUM in which you can hear what sounds like the crackling of a record being played or is it the crackling of a camp fire?
You won't need a skip button with this one but you may need to have your thumb ready to increase the volume as the album plays, it gets better as it goes along.
The album is out on Rottweiler Records and if you haven't heard of them check 'em out there are some great bands to be found there.

Thanks for the review! Virgin Black, Morphia, and Antestor are all bands I really like. I'll have to give these folks a listen.
