I am! I own and love From Mars to Sirius, The Way of All Flesh and L'Enfant Sauvage. I have mixed feelings on what I've heard from Magma, but still intend to get it at some point.

Absolutely amazing band, I have their last four albums.  Of the newer metal bands around they, along with Epica, are my favorite.

Have taken a huge liking to From Mars to Sirius over the past several days. Really solid stuff.

Has anyone heard the new album "Fortitude"?

I was never a fan before but this album is quite the barn-stormer.  Really remarkable.
This will surely be in my Top 10 for the year.

I have heard the album twice so, far.  I like the fact that the band continues to progress their sound.  They are amazing.

Does anyone know if Gojira is working on a new album?

The last single they released was in 2022 and I was expecting a full album next, but so far nothing and no official news.

I thought they'd be in my Top 10 albums list for the year but not if there's no album.  They seem to be focused on touring instead.

Gojira is one of the bands that takes their sweet time on making an album. I wouldn't count on an LP for at least another 3 years.
Magma came out in 2016 and Fortitude in 2021. That's a sizeable gap.

From the little I've heard, they make some great music. "Vacuity" still gets stuck in my head sometimes, all these years later. A little surprised to see a Christian saying they like Gojira's lyrics, though... I can elaborate a bit if it's really needed, but they're the sort of lyrics I was into pre-salvation.

Yeah, lyrically they're completely nuts so I don't listen to them much.

I've never really actually looked at their lyrics except for some on the last album. I know they're environmental activists but other than that I'm not sure what they sing about.

Despite myself being involved in that kind of spirituality for several years, I never really did find a good word for it... It seemed pretty unorganized. If I say "spiritual but not religious", does that make sense?

Not into it. Not worse band in world or anything. Had that album with the whale on the cover when they weren't quite as known as they are now. thought it was good back then and actually I think the music got weaker after that so much so it may as well be POD or something and also every other man and his dog sound like Gojira (that yucky modern sound) and it's just another case of metalcore syndrome to me.

Ps glad you like it though so that's cool.

I have never seen anyone use the term Metalcore and Gojira in the same sentence. There are definitely elements of thrash, death metal, groove metal and prog metal in their music. But Metalcore?  I do not hear it.
