Re: OBLIVION MYTH ~ Inside The Mirror
I'm surprised this band hasn't gotten more notice. U.S. power/speed bands with a Christian slant are hard to come by.
The production on the album could be better, but there are some good songs on this one.
Warning: There are obnoxious political ads before each video. But this is from the band's official channel, so they hopefully make the money.

Great stuff! Right up my alley...
I glanced at the word "power metal" and was reluctant, but then re-read it with the "US." Funny how big of a difference that is.
The singer is no Todd Latorre in the upper register, but sounds great otherwise. He doesn't spend much time there anyway. Plus he's the guitar player which gives him an out.
Really intense solo'ing and there's some progressive leanings as well. He plays solos like Jimmy Brown, not with taps or sweeping, but really ferocious picking.
Yeah, I'd lay down some bucks for this.

It's a decent album, has some good songs and some are kind of meh. The stand out song to me is Hallowed Oath, with it's heaviness and Halford like high notes.

Lol, I so agree. While I admire the musicianship of Euro power metal (a.k.a. "happy metal"), I find most of it repetitious and boring to actually listen to. But give me that good old fashioned U.S. power metal any day.Superjuice wrote:I glanced at the word "power metal" and was reluctant, but then re-read it with the "US." I would generally agree, it has room for improvement. Wish the production had more bottom end too.Black Rider wrote:It's a decent album, has some good songs and some are kind of meh.
But overall it is a worthy effort, and I do think more people would like the band if they knew who the band was.

Well, apparently the improvement is almost here. They're done with the album and are shopping it around:Constantine wrote:I would generally agree, it has room for improvement. OM are filming a music video in August 2020 for their new album "In Your Arms". The time and place for release for both are still TBA. Hopefully this Summer! Keep the Faith!

The new Oblivion Myth album is finished. It is masterfully recorded by Curtis Erdek at Audiotopia Recording Studios in Lavergne, TN, and mixed/mastered by Andy Freeman at Big Andy Studios in Ocala Florida. The album sounds big and bright. We are so delighted to have Chris Selby back in the Oblivion Myth family, reunited with Keith Smith as our guitar duo. Newest member Ryan Mark has blown everyone away with his bass playing and multi-instrumentalist talents. We are in the process of pitching it to different labels, and having a talk with a very prominent album cover artist that we hope we can work with...

The singer they have now is different from the previous album IIRC. I think he sings for a Judas Priest tribute band.
They're not too far from here. Surprised we haven't played a show with them yet.

I like the debut better, bit of a doomy feel to it.
