New Lyric Video debut!
This will be the first official lyric video from my Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band blues album. This song is called "Girl In The Window". Based on a true story out of Florida, this song highlights the fact that abuse still happens to children even in the form of neglect. Google the song title to learn more about this heart-wrenching story.
I am doing all vocals, bass, and guitars on this song. Not only did I play the guitars, I built them from cigar boxes, license plates, and even a car show trophy plaque. Take a listen!

Pretty good. Add a little more grit and I could see this being a Rose song on "Sacrificium"
Re: New Lyric Video debut!
I could see that. I felt like the song was dark enough as is and blends in well with the rest of my new blues project.

Love the blues based hard rock sound. And your guitar tone is fantastic. Like I mentioned elsewhere I think this is the best your vocals have ever sounded.
I look forward to getting my hands on the album.

Thomas, thanks! Thesong was close to my heart as the girl in the story was a former student of mine. The girl in the photos is one of my church kids. I wanted everything to tell the story but be classy but disturbing. I feel that I succeeded.

The guitar tone is part generic P90 humbucker in the Cohiba cigar box guitar this is played on and then ran through my Line 6 POD. I didn't put a lot of overdrive on it as I didn't think it needed it. The sound is full this way without coming off as a full metal song. I didn't want that as this isn't meant to be metal. It is blues all the way.

Great tune!!!
Are the drums front drum machine? If so, I think the tune would be in a higher level if you could do the song with a real drummer/drum

I have never used a drum machine on my CDs. This is a live drummer--my brother. He is playing my Yamaha electric kit. The sounds are a bit weak, so additional tones were overlaid on top of his performance to fatten up his sound. Then, compression was added and they were run through a few virtual rooms and sound samples to make them even bigger. This song needed someone who could just play in the pocket, and my brother nailed it in my opinion.
Thanks to all of you who watched it!

Most of my favorite hard rock/metal bands have a bluesy side!
I am not much of a fan of classic blues, but I do like the more rocked out stuff like ZZ Top, Joe Bonamassa, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Glenn Kaiser Band, Microwave Dave, the Georgia Satellites, etc. With that list, you can tell what my influences are and where I'll be going in the future with this.
I like this style as my natural singing voice is cut out more for this than metal. With blues, you can have as detailed or as simple leads as you want. So, where I feel weak in metal with singing and lead playing, I don't have to worry about with this project. Just slap on a slide and go with whatever feels right. With a couple of songs, that is literally what I did for a solo. With the song "Bound For a Throne", that is exactly how I did my leads and it worked out wonderfully. It is probably my strongest solo of all.
With metal, I feel that I am trying to be something that I don't feel that I am. With this blues album, I built my own guitars and just started writing and recording. I didn't care if the songs came out too country or even bluegrassy. Fortunately, they did not. This felt like I had taken off any blinders or stigmas as to how I should sound. What does a blues album sound like? Whatever I make on the guitars I built out of cigar boxes. With that, I think everyone will hear the passion I have for the music with the best singing I have ever recorded (save for that one southern gospel album I did once upon a time).
