What is your favorite era?

True, but like Guardian after Swing Swang Swung they never got back to what they were before the "acoustic" album.

Neither did Bride for quite some time. We lost guitar solos. They definitely went after a more alternative sound. But, so did Whitecross, Xalt, X-Sinner (as the Angry Einsteins), Petra, Holy Soldier, and White Heart. The alternative/grunge scene had taken over MTV and radio and our music was no longer mainstream. Metal became the alternative. The old metal bands brought in alternative pieces that were not what their fans wanted. It cost most of them their careers, too. Except for Bride, none of these bands ever did much after they went alternative. Bride has had a decent "reunion" era with "This Is It" and its 3 follow ups. Whitecross has only managed to re-record their debut and Guardian put out something even worse than "Bottle Rocket". X-Sinner has put out a decent follow up with "World Covered In Blood" but is probably done.
Man, I have just made myself sad as I realize that many of my favorites are gone for good. Where is Saint when you need a new album!!!!
Re: Best Bride Era?
Hey guys, Alan from THE WORLD WILL BURN HERE. We are a new band and Dale Thompson is our singer. I really think he sounds terrific on our new album, and if you like Bride from the Golden Era we might be right up your alley. We aren't Bride, but if you love Dale's voice give us a listen.

I think most here would consider this opinion "blasphemy" , but I consider "This Is It" to be a better album than "Sankes in the Playground"

Glad I'm not the only one. None of the Bride albums from the 2000s - when they'd returned to a hard rock sound - do anything for me. And while I don't like the lyrical direction, this wouldn't be different if Dale had stayed true to the faith. The music was just..."off" is a good way to describe it.

I went with the Golden era,
Snakes in the Playground is simply one the greatest rock records, Christian or secular.

Re: Best Bride Era?
Close call:
Chose Classic as Silence is my favorite album (across all bands). Live to Die is a metal masterpiece.
KF was a disappointment at first but man, that hits me now as an absolute genre monster.
Snakes = Sea Hags + GnR + Bride = among the best ever.
Scarecrow - I always think of it as Snakes 2.0 - almost...the same... Sort of like Halle at 50 instead of 35.

Love the classic era but the songwriting on Kinetic Faith and Snakes is top notch. Kinetic Faith is my favorite Bride record, if you didn‘t like it back in the day give it another chance.

I enjoy Kinetic Faith quite a bit, but I think it would have topped Snakes without the distortion of the guitars.

Re: Best Bride Era?
As great as those three golden era albums are, I think Live to Die and Silence Is Madness are their greatest records.

Silence is Madness is my all-time favorite so KF was a huge disappointment to me at the time.
Now? I think it's an absolute monster.

The second half of Kinetic Faith has some of my favorite Bride songs ever.

Though I don't listen to Bride anymore, To live is to Die, Silence is madness and Kinetic Faith are my favorite Bride albums. So betwixt the crossover I suppose of the classic and Golden ages. Dale's vocal is the thing of rock 'N' Roll legend, and unfortunately, once again, overlooked.
And like someone mentioned above, Silence is Madness was also my first proper metal record.

I had to go with the classic era. Dale's voice was simply phenomenal at that time. It should have gotten more attention from media, including secular as his voice was so unique.

I love the golden era…I knew about earlier Bride but my first album was Kinetic Faith. I also love the classics as I went backwards in their catalogue after hearing Kinetic.

Re: Best Bride Era?
I was never a big Bride fan. I was introduced during the “golden” era, but when I finally heard some of the Silence is Madness stuff, I realized they were a cool band in the beginning! Almost like a David Wayne era Metal Church vibe with the shrieky vocals.

I think Snakes was a blatant attempt to use the Guns N Roses popularity (at the time). But it just didn’t grab me.

I wish they had a better looking name/logo on the Silence album… it looks like blue breadsticks.

Re: Best Bride Era?
Listening to some albuns from Bride's discography and my personal thoughts about 3 of them are:
Drop: The only problem is that was released after Snakes and Scarecrow. Great compositions and sound...
The Jesus Experience: Good album, perfect timing to release (when grunge ruled the world), wrong band name (If release by another name instead of Bride, would be a hit, certain)
Oddities: good, but too long. Instead 56 minutes, a 30 minutes album would be reasenable better...

I usually think that there are many bride albums that are too long.Lex Metalis wrote:Listening to some albuns from Bride's discography and my personal thoughts about 3 of them are:

Oddities, Snakes in the Playground, Skin for Skin all have 14 tracks each. This is it has 13 tracks.
Though I admire the creativity of the band, it gets difficult nowadays to get familiar with some songs. I usually get tired of listening the same kind of music.
That's just too much for me.
