Impending Doom
I purchased my first Impending Doom album the other day. Opted for Baptized in Filth and I've not been disappointed. Just curious as to how many others here like this Christian Deathcore band from California. I'd also like to get an idea of what album you think is their best work.

Re: Impending Doom
Saw them live with Whitechapel tour in for the first album. I like them well enough in small doses, MOST straight up death ore is not my thing.
I prefer Nailed.Dead.Risen.....

Re: Impending Doom
They're all pretty equally awesome to my ears. I went with Baptized in Filth but it's a toss-up. Although somehow I totally missed Death Will Reign! I think I remember it coming out and I was going to buy it, then life caused me to forget it for 3 years! Whoops. I just downloaded it and am digging it. Same consistent sound as the other albums. They're all pretty interchangeable.

I went with Serpent Servant. I haven't heard Death Will Reign, in fairness. I found Baptized in Filth boring and Nailed. Dead. Risen. kind of flat (I know, that's blasphemy for some folks). There Will Be Violence was a step more interesting IMO (and if I'm keeping them straight, maybe/maybe not), but at least when it came out, I was most excited by Serpent Servant. I thought it had the most personality, if that makes sense.

Initially I didn't like these guys when they were first recommended to me. I watched the video for There Will Be Violence and I just kinda thought, meh, not impressed. In all fairness though, I was not listening to anything that heavy at the time and when I was more into death metal and the heavier side of metal core I found that video again, checked it out and became a fan! Right now I'm really into Death Will Reign, so I chose that one.

Sounds like a good reason. Myself, I listen to "Nailed. Dead. Risen." and it makes me laugh every time, for whatever reason I find the vocals and the tempo to be funny.
Re: Impending Doom
Maybe its just me but I felt that Death Will Reign was their worst album. To me for the most part the entire album sounded mostly the same and was more like "look we're heavy". I much preferred Baptized in Filth or There Will Be Violence
Re: Impending Doom
I agree but to me the overall tone and lyrical content just really hit home with me when it came out.Blake wrote: To me for the most part the entire album sounded mostly the same and was more like "look we're heavy". I much preferred Baptized in Filth or There Will Be Violence

I lost my physical N.D.R album and it upsets me. Like a lot of people every album I listened for more squeals but his style changed. I love the newer stuff too but NDR has a special spot for me.
