Any Joe Satriani Fans?
I am a big fan of some of Joe Satriani's cd, Flying In A Blue Dream being my favorite. I lost touch with his work for several years, but I did pick up his last two cds which I highly recommend. Any other fans out there?

I remember jamming to "Surfing with the Alien" years ago with my friends. I never got into any of his other stuff though. Makes me want to go and pick something up.

His most recent cd is good, but the one prior, Unstoppable Momentum, was his best in a long time.

I love Joe Satch! He is quite an epic bald headed alien indeed! His guitar playing tells a story he is Jimi Hendirx in a new form in new age of guitar.

For me, it is also Flying In A Blue Dream. Fantastic album, every song is good and I even enjoy his singing on it. I had Surfing on cassette back when it was new... A few months ago I saw the reissue in the $5 bin at Walmart and didn't get it... Then decided a couple of days later to get it and it was gone. I never saw it again in the $5 bin (in fact the 3 Walmarts around here got rid of the $5 bin so it looks like those are a thing of the past. Looking at CD's now at Walmart is like looking at a garage sale or something. They are in no particular order, even tho there are those A-Z cards. Artists are mixed in together all over the whole section. Some CD's are 11.88 and some $5 CD's are thrown in. In fact, I was looking thru some a few weeks ago and saw Metallica "And Justice For All". It was $11.88. Saw it in another section and the same CD was $5. So I bought it and the black album, 5 bucks each... I was looking for Megadeth "Rust In Peace" which I have also seen in the $5 bin at one time, never to see it again after passing it up.
But, back to Satch, when I heard this song I loved it. Still my favorite by him. It was when I heard this song I realized he really didn't need to sing because he plays the guitar so well it does the singing for him. I love the mix of acoustic and electric.

Yeah, I just watched an hour long teaching session with him as the instructor and I don't even play guitar.
Too bad he and Paul Shaffer are indistinguishable now.

Satch was one of the coolest guys around back in the day when he had long hair. It took me a LONG time to get used to him bald.Superjuice wrote:Yeah, I just watched an hour long teaching session with him as the instructor and I don't even play guitar.
