BABYMETAL
This Japanese Alternative Metal band has certainly made a splash in recent times due to their unusually young ages.
But I don't care about all the negative things I hear ... I LOVE this band!!! I am hoping that they have a long career ahead of them!
They are so unique in how they combine Alternative Metal with Trance Metal among many other subgenres ... including J-Pop, Power Metal & Melodic Death Metal! Makes for a very original sound my friends!!! Any other fans here?

Count me in. Discovered Babymetal a couple months ago and I kinda dig em. I will say, it feels weird to go from bands like Iron Maiden and As I Lay Dying to a group of young, Japanese chicks, but it is what it is. And I like what it is.

That's hilarious the way you worded that!!! It's true though!!!
Just imagine though ... in a few years they'll be in their late teens and early 20s. Then they'll be the THANG!!!
And we can say we were fans from the beginning!!!

I totally understand Hardcore. I was just teasing you.
There is no doubt that BABYMETAL isn't everyone's cup of tea.
For me though ... these musical ingredients are very successful. I love the way that this batch of Japanese Alternative Metal turns out. Tasty!

This isn't the first trio of girls. I believe that after age 12, you have to leave the group.

Are you serious? I had no idea about that. I know they only have one studio album out.

Re: BABYMETAL
I listened to Babymetal back when Doki Doki Morning first came out, which was their first video.
I miss the fact that the growling is gone on their new songs. (I think its gone because while they made the sounds themselves (there's some youtube gold of them doing it and you see them doing it on their "Line" video) I think a lot of their fans found it more "kawaii" when they had just clean vocals)
If you HAVEN'T heard them growl, this is my favorite example. Start it at 0:42 seconds, grit through the rap spoof and prepare to be DESTROYED at 0:53
Also this, past the intro - start at 1:26 - which is almost straight up death metal.
Love it.
Yes, they have one "album", but they've been releasing "songs" since 2012.
Metaldude, I don't know where you're getting your info from. This IS their first and original trio of girls, the lead singer is 18, the two backup singers are both 16. The big poofy dresses and samuri armor hide their curves - obviously.
One of the side singers loves Cannibal Corpse - at least that's what she said in an interview.
Regarding feeling weird liking music from little girls, I think that holds more weight because these little high school girls are more metal than some big, burly, long haired, tatted up dudes I know.

Re: BABYMETAL
I love Japanese metal bands and Babymetal is no exception. The thing I like about Japanese metal bands is that they aren't afraid to throw totally unexpected styles and experimentation in with everything else.

Metaldude is NOT right.
CTRL+F on that page and type Babymetal.
Count the number of girls names associated with the Babymetal. (since Sakura Gakuin does much more than Babymetal)
There are ONLY 3 girls picked in 2010 for Babymetal and they are the same 3 girls listed on this ↓ page along with NO FORMER MEMBERS.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babymetal#Members
...oh and its this one that likes Cannibal Corpse.

I really like Babymetal! It's a fun combination and a really fun listen. There's some good old fashioned metal in there too. It seems like everyone in the band really has a lot of fun. My daughter even likes to listen to them!

Re: BABYMETAL
This is what I wrote about them in the earlier thread we had about them here an in the HoM forum a couple of years ago:
I guess what I like about this is that there are so many metal bands with an ultra-processed sound and those bands try to be something they are not, but this basically is what every single commercial super-processed modern heavy metal band REALLY is. This is brutally HONEST stuff in all its "fakeness" that it just feels right.
There are annoying trends in all kinds of art and entertainment, BUT sometimes someone does that annoying thing with such a power that it manages to negate the bad.
If there is a place for super-processed computerized heavy metal in this world, it is right there with Babymetal. Those girls show the TRUE FACE of modern boring processed metal, and that's what makes this enjoyable. There is absolutely ZERO pretence.
Here's what I think about them now:
They are still great. A couple of songs I absolutely love, a few I dig quite much and some are pretty much just ok. And yeah, Thomas is correct. There is no such thing as "having to leave the band when they turn 12" with Babymetal. When I discovered the band the first time, the oldest one was 15 or 16 and the rest were 12 or 13. And they've been the same girls since then.
I love these songs:
I absolutely LOVE the riff starting at 0:35!
Check out the WALL OF DEATH starting at 4:38!
The musicians playing in the band and creating the songs are phenomenal. In the live shows they have such a great presence even if they don't move around much. The huge energy in the videos gives much huge goosebumps, send shivers down my spine and nearly puts me in tears. Not many bands are able to make that happen, and I'm baffled THIS band does that still to me.

I agree 110% with all you said! My two kids are big fans of this band too! It makes them realize they are NOT too young to start living their dreams!

That is Sakura Gskuin its a school idol kinda stuff in japan. Babymetal was formerly a part of SG but after Suzuka(Sumetal) graduate from SG BM part ways with SG. These three girls are kind of a permanent members of babymetal.

I quit listening to them after seeing one of their videos where they did a mock crucifixion as part of the live theatrics, which also included a statue of the virgin Mary with its head breaking off at the end

Re: BABYMETAL
I believe they did not intent to mock.thet Cross of Christ and the Mary like vigure is not the Virgin Mary but a goddess in Japanese folklore.
I think they're trying to make up by having a tour with skillet ( a christian rock band)
