The Tourniquet Ark
Ok so why is this Ted Kirkpatrick album listed in the archives as a tourniquet album? I am pretty confused by this. It was billed as Ted's new album with guest musicians, with vocals something Ted's solo career usually hasn't had.
From His Kickstarter page:
This is a full album project with vocals - human vocals this time! (Many of you know I did a solo album featuring authentic animal sounds for the “vocals”.) I plan to make the music all of you have come to expect from the main songwriter in Tourniquet since the beginning. Joining me will be a few fantastic guest musicians to add to the mix - on vocals and lead guitar - maybe even a Milwaukee symphony musician or two ... I'm looking at probably eight brand new songs. The songs are pretty much written (in my head) - just need to get them recorded. It's no secret by now that I love beautiful music and I love very heavy music - you will surely hear both in ONWARD TO FREEDOM. My hope is that this is truly something you can feel good about being involved with.
If we reach the goal of $7000, the money will go to for mixing, mastering, guest musicians, guitar and bass setups, drum equipment (sticks, heads, etc.), and of course paying for all the cool rewards I'm offering. I'm hoping to make the CD packaging really cool, which always costs more to do than just the standard CD.
I think I've put together some pretty cool rewards as a thank you for your pledge. Everything from the finished album, of course – to T shirts, necklaces, wildlife photo prints, guitars - and some of my drum stuff I’ve had with me for 20 years – truly one of a kind stuff. Check out the video and the rewards for all the info. I appreciate you all! Ted
So why did this get listed as a Tourniquet album in the archives when it is a solo album/project?
From His Kickstarter page:
About this project
Hey everyone - Thank you for checking out my new project! I have certainly been blessed by all the Tourniquet fans out there, and all of you who have shown an interest in what I do - plus it’s been cool to see so many of you at The Tourniquet Ark. Now I’m ready to record a new album called ONWARD TO FREEDOM. I believe this is a worthwhile project - I hope you’ll agree and join me.This is a full album project with vocals - human vocals this time! I thought it was going to be a TK album. I guess the sound evolved to the point it turned into a Tourniquet album so that Mr. Kirkpatrick thought, "Smurf it - it's a Tourniquet album".

Yes but it was Luke on vocals with Ted Kirkpatrick's Tourniquet Ark it was a different vocalist on each song And like I said he billed it as part of his solo stuff.Thiago-Brazil wrote:That is basically it...sentient 6 wrote:Ted is......Tourniquet.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
Perhaps Luke and Aaron weren't initially intended to be involved with the project, but when they became involved (although, not largely) the Tourniquet name was attached to it. It could also be that the music is more of a "Tourniquet" style than Ted's solo stuff usually is.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
I assumed it was Changed from a marketing stand point. A Tourniquet album will sell better than a Ted album.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
If you own the album, you will see that the album itself is under the name Tourniquet and not Tourniquet Ark. Ted changed the name himself. With that being said, that would be why the archives (Firestream?) and other discography listings would list it as a Tourniquet album. Because it is.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
Well by archives I mean the Metal Archives of course. Second of all I have heard samples of the album on itunes and there is ONE track that can be remotely called Tourniquet and the others aren't even heavy enough to be considered Ted to be quite honest. So since it WAS billed as a solo project and the artwork I can find says TED KIRKPATRICKS TOURNIQUET. I will, regardless of the improper placement in the metal archives, consider it a Ted album and continue to wait for the REAL Tourniqet album. Photo below showing proof of it being a Ted Album.NoOneIsHere wrote:If you own the album, you will see that the album itself is under the name Tourniquet and not Tourniquet Ark. And by the way TED is getting WAY too into the save ALL THE ANIMALS KICK. Yes it is important to protect them but to the point of eating grass instead of eating the animals that God gave us to use as food is going OVERBOARD. Just my opinion.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
Technically...the artwork you show doesn't say Ted Kirkpatrick's Tourniquet. Nor does the album artwork on my copy.
It says Tourniquet / Ted Kirkpatrick on it. :p

I am a meat eater, but I understand the concerns of the mass producing of meat. As long as the mass producing of meat is going way overboard, I think it's ok for people to go overboard with eating grass instead of the animals.
It's kinda like boycotting companies that use child labour to make their products. I mean, it's not a bad thing when a kid makes some stuff, but when there are factories filled with young children working full days to make huge amounts of stuff and getting next to nothing for their work, and possibly getting physically abused at the same time, then it's a completely different thing... Like that, it's not bad to eat the meat of an animal, but when there are factories filled with animals with barely space to move while the factory workers beat them, then it's a completely different thing too.
So, some people feel that just like boycotting companies that use child labour might help to end that child labour in the long run, some vegetarians feel that if they don't use the meat products, it might help to end the abuse of animals in the long run.
What comes to the album, I recall Ted himself explained the name change at some point. I tried to find it on their Facebook page, but couldn't find it. I think he said something about him getting mixed messages from the fans, that they were already thinking it's a new Tourniquet album and not a Kirkpatrick solo project, and that the songs themselves sounded more like Tourniquet than any of his other solo albums and that made people even more confused, so he decided to release it kinda as a half Tourniquet and a half Kirkpatrick solo album.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
Quoted for truth. There are several verses in Scripture ordaining man's eating of meat, and none condemning them. In fact, 2 Tim. 4:3 has harsh words for those FORBIDDING carnivorism!! Ted conveniently skates around this passage in order to push his anti-meat, pro-vegetarian agenda. When I buy a TQT product, I expect to slam my head to some righteous metal, not to be lectured like a two-year-old.lhversaw wrote:Well by archives I mean the Metal Archives of course. Re: The Tourniquet Ark
The whole purpose of the album was animal rights....so buying it expecting anything else but that would be kinda naive...
Guest- Guest
Re: The Tourniquet Ark
That's a naive assessment. There's a great divide between animal rights (treating them respectfully, which most sapient human beings IMO would defend) and forbidding the eating of their meat (IMNSHO, most Americans/decent persons everywhere are not on board with). You've inexplicably conflated the two paradigms.

Re: The Tourniquet Ark
Uh... in my Bible, 2 Timothy 4:3 says:
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
Were you referring to a different verse?

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.
