DC vs Marvel
I was just wondering this can also be a discussion for the various shows, movies, and other expanded universes

Re: DC vs Marvel
I've always preferred Marvel, though I've been getting so tired of all the superhero stuff that I don't particularly care about either haha.

Re: DC vs Marvel
DC cartoon movies are just freaking awesome, Justice League Doom is probably my favorite superhero movie. And the Arrow is great.
Marvel films are great, the shows are alright(I'm pumped for Agents of SHIELD because of INHUMANS!), but there's the Marvel Unlimited app which is awesome. I have read plenty of Deadpool, Inhumans, Avengers and so many more. Also, I read the Civil War storyline and that is just awesome. I cannot wait for it. So, I went with marvel.

Re: DC vs Marvel
While my favorite is Batman, I must say that I have enjoyed MORE Marvel characters than DC. I like the concept of most of them being mutant humans or Inhumans (a different way of saying mutant) rather than some of the Amazonian, Atlantis mythical characters and different alien visitors to our world. I just seem to like Marvel better as a whole.
Re: DC vs Marvel
For movies: Marvel (the Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel the exceptions).
On TV: DC. Gotham, The Flash, Arrow for me.
But Marvel's Agent Carter, and Netflix's pending Jessica Jones, the Defenders, and Daredevil are going to bring the house down

Re: DC vs Marvel
Oh yeah, I completely forgot about Daredevil. Based off of that Frank Miller's work? That will be awesome. All he does seems real gritty. Supposedly, that guy's work on batman will be the basis for Superman vs. Batman. If that's true, I am looking forward to it even more.
Oh, and did y'all hear about the show SyFy is going to have? Didn't? I'll give you a hint, it's like Gotham. Still can't guess, but there's a stupid idea in the back of your head? Yeah, yeah it's that one: Krypton. Jeez. That's gonna suck.

Re: DC vs Marvel
It's a tough question to answer because, like many in this thread, there are aspects of both universes I enjoy.
DC
The Christopher Reeve Superman quadrilogy. I really enjoyed as a child.
The Saturday morning Justice League cartoons I also really enjoyed back in the 1980s.
I've enjoyed all Batman incarnations. Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and I'll hopefully enjoy Ben Affleck.
Marvel
LIKES
I love both the Eric Bana and Edward Norton Hulk movies.
All the Thor, Avengers and Ironman movies.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series
The Punisher
DISLIKES
Do not enjoy Agent Carter or anything Spider-Man. Although, after today's announcement, that might change.
I also have not enjoyed any of the Fantastic Four movies to date, but have high hopes for the new one coming out.
I didn't like Daredevil.

^This.
Batman rocks, but I think he's the only DC character besides Superman that I ever cared for.

When I still read comics, I enjoyed MArvel - X-Men, The Punisher (regular, war journal and the 2099 series), SpiderMan, etc.

Re: DC vs Marvel
Ive always enjoyed DC as a whole just about everything DC I love
Not to mention the Justice League show from about 10 years ago and the Teen Titans
Batman: The Animated Series IMO is the greatest cartoon show ever
I like a few Marvel characters such as Iron Man and Captain America other than that I have no care for Marvel and Disney

Re: DC vs Marvel
DC has just gotten way too dark in recent years (both the comics and the live action movies). While the same can be said for Marvel, there at least seems to be some sense of heroism there.

Re: DC vs Marvel
Marvel for me. Like WildWorld stated, DC has gotten too dark and feels like you're just watching any other typical action or thriller movie with costumes involved. Marvel still has the classic super hero theme in all of their comics, shows and movies while DC seems to be getting rid of it little by little.

I love Arrow, too. Rumor holds that The Atom might get his own show down the road.

Honestly most of my favorite characters are in Marvel (Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man etc)

Re: DC vs Marvel
One thing that Marvel has been able to do that DC hasn't: effectively corner the market by pushing many of its characters to film SUCCESSFULLY. Except for Batman and Superman, DC hasn't really been a big player on the big screen. Sure, Marvel now has Disney to push it further, but that's still how you build an empire from a bankrupt company. Marvel was about to go under when they sold rights to Daredevil, Spiderman, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. Those deals brought them back and allowed them to start on The Avengers and all the individual stories connected. They are keeping continuity through the movies as well. DC has not had that kind of continued success by a single series.

IMO its just because its Disney that they do so wellalldatndensum wrote:One thing that Marvel has been able to do that DC hasn't: effectively corner the market by pushing many of its characters to film SUCCESSFULLY. thats why Im scared of Star War VII
I DO NOT want them to ruin it
I agree DC in the past hasnt been a major player on the big screen but in the area of TV Shows they have some of the best including: Batman The Animated Series, Superman The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Teen Titans
