It's not theology, it's doctrine. Bad doctrine.
Theology is the study of God and it appears that these people aren't doing studying.
Doctrines are the teachings of a particular person or group.

Man, I hate it when the only joke I can come up with is in (extremely) poor taste.......

I was done with that in about 20 seconds. Didn't need to see the rest.

Fair enough...
In some way I guess it's word usage and the way those two are interchangeable to most. I agree with you but most of what went on in the forbidden place wasn't theology, it was doctrinal debate.

Re: What in the Sam Elliot?!
That could fall under " theology " since these people claim God is responsible for the sensations. Its the study of theology that leads to doctrinal views.

My question would then be.... is just as amusing when this is done in the name of paganism ? ( you don't have to answer exo )
I personal don't mind that he posted it, but it does fit CMs MO. To be fair, it would fit my MO too.

Re: What in the Sam Elliot?!
It's only "funny" in the name of paganism if it's set to Benny Hill music. Otherwise it's only mildly amusing.......sentient 6 wrote:exo wrote:Or, could just be tha CM posted this because he found it amusing, there's always the possibility that y'all are over-reaching just a hair.....

Looks more like an out-take of Linda Blair from the Exorcist.

Re: What in the Sam Elliot?!
I think people want a manifestation of God so bad that they do this stuff to try and prove to people that God is moving in a new and powerful way. Ridicules. I'm having a Godly seizure ''look how HOLY I am''. I have seen true miracles signs and wonders. Anyone can buck and jerk and fall down. As they say on NFL Monday night countdown ''come on man!'' lol!!

I think people might be scared of her.
That could be why she gets away with doing this.

Re: What in the Sam Elliot?!
So...the guy asks her to come up on stage.
She comes up and people start cheering.
It seems as if she likes the cheers from the crowd. It seems as if she is very confident as she flips her hair while getting into character.
The crowd continues to cheer her on.
She starts speaking.
Ok....We're moving now.
She starts shaking and breathing heavy.
She starts talking about a "move of the spirit" that God said would come.
What I want to know is...
Is all of this shaking and heavy breathing supposed to be proof of the spirit "moving" in her life?
Is that the message she is trying to get across to people?

Re: What in the Sam Elliot?!
I used to belong to a church that was big on the "Toronto Blessing", I always cringed when I would see some of these types of "manifestations." I stayed there as long as I did because of some of the friends I made there, and some of the teaching I considered to be solid. But I could no longer suffer all the madness that was mixed in...

Have any of you ever seen the movie Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus)?sentient 6 wrote:...paganism under the guise of christianity ?

There's a seance scene toward the end when Orfeu goes to contact Eurydice.
I tried to cue the scene, but it isn't working. Go to 1:35, or 1:32 to get more context.

Maybe exo, but in my experience when CM posts things like this, it's to mock or show how silly he thinks it is. According to this "every theology thread will be closed and delete without notification..." Does that only apply to some people, or everyone? Regardless of his intention, people are talking about it (making it a thread) and it is theology/doctrinal.
I know folks will think I'm being overly sensitive, and maybe I am, but why have some of us gotten PM's to lay off the theology talk but why is a member that most of the mods and Admins like allowed to post this?

As Exo said, this isn't a "theology" topic (yet). And as Candlemass knows, he doesn't get any special treatment here either. We're aware and trying to keep an on things and make sure all stays civil.
