The Choir - The Shadow Weaver
Normally I am in to a lot heavier Christian rock and metal, but has anyone heard this new one yet? I am loving this brand new release from The Choir that just came out! The Limited Edition vinyl sounds amazing! The song and musicianship are great!
When I inquired to pick some up for the distro I did not even have any idea how active they are and how many releases they put out the last ten years! Anyone else a fan? The last thing I think I heard or even had up to this week was Chasing the Kangaroo which I loved!
Thoughts anyone?

I have it. "What You Think I Am" is my favorite song on that one.
They have slowed down (musical tempo, not musical output) over the last decade - far more ballads than rockers. The Loudest Sound Ever Heard, Burning Like the Midnight Sun, and O How the Mighty Have Fallen are all in the same vein in that regard.
My favorite album by them (and one of my top ten all time - take my Metal Card for this one) is Speckled Bird. Long OOP but it is amazing.
The last two years they have had Black Friday weekend sales at their online store - maybe they will again this year?

I've only heard Circle Slide, but I do dig them. Definitely a band I'm intrigued by.

I used to love The Choir. Used to. The last album that I can say I liked is Speckled Bird. Their output since then has been kind of lame to me. Projects like Circle Slide and Wide Eyed Wonder were great alternative albums. What they produce now seems to be blah middle of the road rock.
Someone please prove me wrong, please! I want to like the music they've put out the last decade or so.

Great Stuff. Their new album might be among the best albums released this year.

No, you're not wrong. Part of what made them great was the mix of upbeat rockers and mellow songs. Everything in the last 15 years has maybe one rock song and the rest mellow. The mix is wrong. For the record, I think an album of mostly rockers wouldn't be as good either - compare Kissers & Killers and Speckled Bird as an example.

Just picked this up on vinyl from CMD. I got the album as part of the Kickstarter and love it. Although I do find myself skipping over some of the ballads more
