Michael Jackson
Speaking of the Bill Cosby thread....Here's another guy the "public shamers" had a heyday with.
I don't care to hear about all the crap people say about him....I like his music.
He may have been "well established" as a ______(fill in the blank)______ in the minds of some people, but I grew up with his music and I think it's cool. It brings back memories of good times.
I don't care to listen to "public shamers". They always try to ruin everything.
MJ was a great talent.

Since you brought it up. Let's bring it together.
I love Klugman's comment between 3:40 - 3:50.

Re: Michael Jackson
Funny story:
my wife was watching Family Feud last night, and one of the questions during the fast money round was, "Name something a person can be struck by," and of course I spoke up enthusiastically and said "A smooth criminal!"... my wife nearly peed herself.

Then there's this song which has kind of an industrial feel to it:

Guys, Michael Jackson is not metal no matter how hard you really want to believe otherwise.
Let's just keep it real.

Re: Michael Jackson
I've been a huge Michael Jackson fan since I was 4 years old. He is still my all time favorite music artist.
It was a tough day to hear the news of him dying.
Some of the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons stuff is great. Almost everything from Off the Wall to Blood on the Dance Floor is fantastic. I love those albums a ton. Didn't care about Invincible. The "MICHAEL" album made after his death was quite good. Some bad songs, some good songs. Heard the newest post-death album Xscape - didn't like that one at all.

Michael is still the best, he had unreal talent. I was a fan of his before I even understood music.

Re: Michael Jackson
I will give MJ credit for having the good sense of getting Eddie Van Halen to play on beat it ( or was the producers idea ?)

Re: Michael Jackson
Oh, MJ has always had cool guitarists, not just the guest ones like EVH or Slash or Steve Stevens, but also the likes of Jennifer Batten and Orianthi (who went on to play with Alice Cooper FWIW).

As far as i know Eddie only played the guitar solo in Beat it....the main riff was done by Steve Lukather - Toto main songwriter who has done tonnes of music for many artists over the years.

Re: Michael Jackson
Interesting factoid about Michael, his first big hit "Ben" is the first (and only) song from a horror movie soundtrack to hit number one.

It's aptly titled "Ben"

What's uber creepy is that the song comes across as a love song to a killer rat.

Haha looks like a classy flick! I never saw Willard though I know it's a bit of a classic; maybe I should see it.
