Early Pantera
I just got 3 of 4 of their older cds and it is so hard to believe that this is the same band that came out with Walk, So F*ing Hostile, Becoming and Cowboys From Hell. I'd like to hear Phil try to sing the way he did in Power Metal again, haha. The guy can barely even talk these days. Anyone know what became of the 2 former singers of Pantera? They were a pretty good glam band.

I saw my first Pantera show in '84. They were playing Van Halen and Judas Priest covers. It was pretty easy to see they were something special. Darrell was a phenom, even as a teenager. I'm not sure what happened to the earlier vocalists. Terry Lee was around the Dallas scene with Lord Tracy for a while.

I didn't learn of them until the 90's when they were big. That's some of the best stuff to see a young hot band and to know that it's going somewhere.metaldude wrote:I saw my first Pantera show in '84. They were playing Van Halen and Judas Priest covers. Their early music is so different from Cowboys. But i do like those 2 songs off of "Power Metal." I thought Cowboys was their debut until around 5 years ago!!

Power Metal had several good songs on it. If you liked those, try Deathtrap, Down Below, or Proud To Be Loud (written by Ron Keel).

I like Pantera up until Cowboys from Hell. The albums after that don't really interest me. I few good songs here and there.

The "Power Metal" CD from pre-Cowboys from Hell days of the band was amazing.
