Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
Are you a bizarre mix of everything? I am! And I am not ashamed to admit it. I like almost everything.
From childhood through now, I have enjoyed some (or a lot) of:
Rock and Metal (all styles)
Electronic and Industrial (all styles from dance to experimental to ethereal to noise and every single one in between)
Pop
Soundtracks and Musicals
Hip Hop and Rap
Gospel
Country (a little)
Bluegrass (and related styles)
Classical (including Opera and Oratorios)
Folk
Foreign and World music
There is only one musical style that I can not listen to ever, and that is island/Caribbean music!
Tell me your story!

Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
I listen to a lot, from Revolutionary Army Of The Infant Jesus (experimental folk/noise) and Iona (Progressive Celtic Rock) to Nomad Son (Doom) to Focused (Hardcore).
Only thing i never listened to is Hip Hop/Rap (Except of course TQT's Spineless and XL & DBD!!)
Lately i've seen myself shift from metal to Prog Rock a bit, although Morti's S/T on vinyl made me growling in my car again.....

They somewhat recently re-released their whole catalog as one CD set I believe. I've been meaning to pick that up, as I liked what I've heard.

Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
I listen to a lot of stuff other than metal, hard rock, and such. Lately it's mostly punk (The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Sex Pistols) and jazz (Miles Davis, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra). I also love Blues, cinematic music (trailer music, soundtracks), electronica, and classical. Sometimes I'll go for country and pop (or some combination of) when I'm in the mood. Sometimes folk (mostly Bob Dylan).
If there's one genre I don't really go for, I'd have to say that it's rap / hip-hop. But occasionally I find something even there that I enjoy.

Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
Ranked Faves and preference:
1. Prog Rock (all of it but '70s is best)
2. Heavy Metal (gotta be melodic to some capacity)
3. Pop Rock (preferably from the '60s)
4. Classical (Romantic Period rules)
5. Jazz (preferably mixed with one of the above)
6. Experimental Electronic (no "sick beats")
7. Folk (non-hipster, maybe some symphonic elements)
I've tried and can't listen to most dance pop, rap, country, reggae, and punk (I do like post-punk though). There are so many more genres and off-shoots, but I'm not set on liking them all. It is still fun going to websites like Allmusic or Rateyourmusic and just sampling genres you've never heard before.

Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
I like almost anything from the '70s and '80s. Prog rock, metal, rock, pop, jazz, new wave, reggae, doesn't matter.
Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
I like:
Classic rock & metal
Blues
Alternative
Some CCM pop
Occasionally I can take some big band swing music
Seeing that I have recently joined hundreds of builders around the globe making my own cigar box guitars, I am now checking out other artists (very few Christian bands in this arena) who are also fellow builders or players of cigar box guitars. That's taking me deeper into some tradional blues but also some folk style music. I like the bluesier side, but not so much the folk side.
I also think that I could tolerate, with different lyrics, some of the newer country music since they incorporate so many of the 80s rock style into that these days.

Re: Are you a bizarre mix of everything?
Well, I'm a bizarre mix of MANY things.......but you were talking about musical tastes.
I like to call my musical tastes "Classic Melodic Progressive Blackened Deaththrash", which is to say that in a given night at work, you will find me listening to anything from Allen/Lande to Zyklon. If it falls under the umbrella of "metal", there's a good chance I listen to it, as long as it's not Djent or porngrind.
