Presenting: The Monolith

Welcome to the age of The Monolith: a brand new entertainment
hub for alternative culture, focusing on music (and film) from the very
darkest corners of the human mind.

The Monolith humbly seeks to become the first port of call on the internet for everything
related to heavy metal and its musical bedfellows. We are the vanguard
of a new way for the scene - but don’t take our word for it. We have
much to offer you, Pledges.

Based in the UK, but with a large, experienced staff spanning across North America and Europe, we
are primarily focussed on aiding and assisting the entire independent
music scene. We’re the online publication that is actively taking steps
towards uniting people in a tight, global community. Whether you are a
fan, a label, a musician, an artist, management, PR, photographer, cat,
dog, hamster or sentient toaster, there is a place for you here.

As well as a webzine, which will display what we believe to be some of the
best and most considered content around, we also have a number of
extra, innovative features. We’ve already begun to work extra hard to
integrate one of our primary MOs: innovation through collaboration. This
is important to us. We want to make reading about metal fun and
interesting again. We can’t be bothered with slagging off obvious
targets, just as you’re no doubt tired of reading it.

So, features: first up, our community of members. As an ‘Acolyte’ - a term
about which you have been teased all of this week - YOU, will be the
foundation of our site. The Monolith isn’t about us telling you what’s
what; this is about you engaging with us, and creating discussion
between all of the above listed parties. You don’t even have to talk to
us if you don’t want to; you can lock us in the dungeons and talk
amongst yourselves should you wish - we’re not fussy.

What this membership will allow you to do is get the most out of our other
features, which we will be revealing to you all of this week. Our crown
jewel is the blogosphere’s first community-driven event calendar, which
we intend to become a powerful force for live music across the world.
Searchable by name, date, location and even genre, this will be
completely free to view for anyone who stumbles across it. Acolytes will
have the true power over this, however; YOU can add your back-room show
in your hometown, or promote your mate’s band’s first tour. Everything
gets equal billing.

This creates a unique opportunity to level the playing field. With our social enterprise structure, and the
fact that we will constantly strive to innovate through our
collaborations, we can create a self perpetuating beacon in the scene
that will continuously grow, offering support to any and every band that
is a marker for quality. This is just the beginning.

We have worked extremely hard and gathered a lot of supporters for this
endeavour. They’ve donated a lot more than their souls, which means that
we have a TON of awesome free stuff to give away! As you guys share and
spread this page and the more ‘likes’ we get, the more prizes we’ll
throw into the mix! There’s so much cool stuff to win here, so let’s get
moving and let’s start talking about the future!
