Best classic Christian thrash sophomore album

I'm going with Weapons easily. It's a nearly perfect masterpiece. My other top ones would be Psychosurgery, If But For One, Once Dead, and Haunts Of Violence.

This is MUCH MUCH harder than the previous one. I’ll give it to Weapons, just ahead of Psychosurgery. But dang, my top 5 thrash albums list on the other thread was 4/5 of these albums.

Personal pick: Seventh Angel - Lament For The Weary

Obscenely hard to top Weapons. Lament is definitely a very close second, though.

It's a toss-up for me between Theocracy, Demon Hunter, and Skillet.

Weapons is great but it's a Metallica clone, Psychosurgery is unique and awesome.

Weapons. Probably a top 5 all time album for me, along with StB, RiP, MoP, AJFA

For a while PS was my favorite TQT, but POD surpassed it.

Haha, I left this Facebook group weeks after joining. I'm still with some of the smaller more genre specific groups though. If anything would get posted besides these 4 bands they were bashed or always compared to them, and don't even try posting anything with extreme vocals!

Detritus - If But For One

This was easy. I’ve loved this album so much over the years. The guitar tone slays. The songwriting was a major step forward from their debut. The lyrics were incredible. I’ve actually wept listening to Father to Son, especially since my dad has passed away. This album is so much more than thrash, but it definitely is blistering as well. One of my favorite metal albums, period, and easily my favorite on this list.

Four of my favorites are in a row on the list. I gotta go with Pillars of Humanity. I was obsessed with that record since the day I got it. 

Psycho Surgery is a close second. Weapons is third, Haunts is fourth.

All good calls but Pillars and PS, as stellar as they may be, are "only" as good as (at best) as their predecessors, whereas WooW blows the debut out of the water. That's why I went with WooW.

I think the first two Deliverance albums are similar. At least the guitar attack is! 

The biggest difference I hear on Weapons is that Chris Hyde improved his drum performance, and George Ochoa’s solos are an upgrade from the previous album.

The difference is Weapons is simply a better collection of songs

I agree it’s a top 5, it’s just not quite as high as some others for me. As I said, on my top 5 thrash albums, 4 of these albums made it.

These are all winners.  I could have picked any of them, but I went with VR-Once Dead only because it was the first extreme metal album I ever heard and it blew my mind.  Such a unique mash-up of styles.

I thought VR was death metal when I first heard them (not talking about RUtE, which is DM).

It’s definitely a top 5 Thrash album. It just has a lot of worthy competition which comes down to individual preference.
