Give him a year or a few decades or so.  The Star Trek bug takes time.  I liked it as a kid, but dismissed it as an adult, then got sucked in when I discovered there were so many better episodes than Arena or Space Seed which got played to death in syndication.  It's like the borg, it is inevitable.

True... Also he's still a teenager and ST tends to be more entertaining for older people from my experience (and ok CTR is older than me but that's beside the point )
