New Tim Lambesis interview.
I don’t think he’s a believer anymore, so I posted here.
Notice he stops short of calling Jesus the divine son of God. Instead, he was a “wise” teacher…

Years ago if you claimed AILD was not a Christian band, you would've been called names and "un-Christian" by supposed Christians.
Someone needs to ask this question to EVERY band discussed in the Christian forum.

In the words of Matt Smith:
"Not just the good moral teacher
Some say patronizingly
With who He claimed to be
The choices are one, two, three:
Liar, fool, or Messiah"

Unless they had all along seen things that were miraculous, what Jesus said at the Last Supper alone would have sent a dozen Jewish men running screaming for the exits.

Re: New Tim Lambesis interview.
I don’t get why some people dismiss Jesus as God, but throw a bone and say he was a good teacher.
How can a person that claims to be God also be a good or wise person (if he wasn’t telling the truth)?
He either was who he said he was, or he’s a delusional crazy person.
With that said… a delusional/crazy person could not heal the sick and raise the dead.

Not long after his incarceration, Pastor Bob Beeman said that he was indeed "A Man of God"...

Re: New Tim Lambesis interview.
I actually know very little about this, never was a fan of this band and at the time this story broke never even heard of them. I don't know, but maybe it's not such a keen idea to get our spiritual formation from rock stars...

I don't think it's a coincidence that so many guys in these core bands had so little faith.
They didn't even have solid faith in music itself.

Re: New Tim Lambesis interview.
The irony is that the core bands were marketed as being in a scene called “spirit filled hardcore”.
Almost all of them couldn’t survive past two albums. Except for No Innocent Victim (whom I liked).
Six Feet Deep is my all time favorite “core” band.
Focused had a great first album…

I always wondered about that, seemed strange to me. How was that scene more "spirit filled" than others?TZ75 wrote:The irony is that the core bands were marketed as being in a scene called “spirit filled hardcore”.

It was marketing I guess…
The young bands were trying to start something. Maybe their intentions were good, but God could see their hearts. For some reason, not many lasted very long.
Tooth and Nail/Solid State didn’t seem to be picky with whom they signed. MXPX weren’t a “core” band… but they were basically secular the whole time they were with T&N. Most of their songs seemed to be about going on dates and teenage stuff. They barely mentioned God.

Yes, but I believe that his health is not so good.
A lot of those bands were extremely militant in their faith, screaming and yelling at the crowds was viewed as "Preaching the Gospel." Zao was like that early on, but are not even Christian now. Chaotic Resemblance is like that, saw them at the Immortal Festival and the one bloke yelled at the crowd for at least fifteen minutes!

Militant is a good word to describe some of them.
A few names I remember from the “spirit filled” days…
Overcome
Unashamed
Strong-arm
Focused
There was also a band called Focal Point that had Ryan Clark in their ranks. He went on to much bigger things with Demon Hunter.

Re: New Tim Lambesis interview.
I was never into this scene, but I eventually got to like some of it. Hated Zao at first, bank in 98 at Cornerstone I peeked in their tent and thought "Holy cow, folks really like this!" However when I saw them again years later I had already begun to be acclimated to more extreme forms of metal, so I began to hear the riffs and melodies I missed early on. I do like "Again" by The Blamed, a few albums by others here and there.

Yes, and the one guy from Mindrage went on to bigger things like Evanescence!

Zao’s sound evolved with every album. They were strange to me… very eccentric. The vocals especially were crazy.
Another crazy band was Training for Utopia. They were very noisy and chaotic.

Wasn’t he eventually fired?
Rocky Gray from Living Sacrifice also was in that band playing drums. I think both of them were dismissed.
The singer Amy is rumored to be a control freak.

Can you imagine if some Catholic youth leader invited them to an event, clueless to what they were? They would be dousing them with holy water and calling for the exorcist!
