Anxiety and Caffeine: To Quit or Not to Quit Empty Anxiety and Caffeine: To Quit or Not to Quit

I've learned over the years that I apparently have a low level of general anxiety. 

I also love coffee. 

Does anyone here have coffee-quitting anecdotes? Good? Bad? Other?

I have both anxiety and a caffeine addiction. I limit my caffeine intake, but it’s mainly because it gives me rapid heartbeat and bothers my restless legs. In terms of anxiety, as long as I know the caffeine is making jittery, then it doesn’t really make me feel anxious emotionally.

I’ve quit caffeine before, but I end up coming back. I’m weak.

I have experimented with different coffees and have found one that is on the weaker side, is less acidic, and doesn't give me that terrible jittery feeling while at least giving me some boost in alertness and energy for when I need it.

I stick to one cup a day (sometimes none that day) and try to make it work for me instead of against me.  It's tricky to find that balance though.

I’ve gone to half-caff or less for my coffee. I get a little boost but it keeps the jitters at a minimum.

I've quit three times in the past... and have always come back. 🙁

Try taking a day or two off between beverages.  You'll sleep better.  Then start looking into brain nootropics, you'll get the energy without the jitters and crash.  Or try matcha green tea powder like purple sticks.

I guess everything in moderation right? I’ve tried to quit drinking coffee cold turkey for a while. Then I tried not drinking for a day or two and then drinking it for a day or two…. Then I would try bringing it down to 2 cups a day. This seemed to work best.

I will probably drink coffee till my dying’ day.

Two cups a day for me and none after noon. I used to drink two four and five cups a day then found out I have sleep apnea.

I drink two cups of the strongest Joe first thing in the morning. It no longer does anything for me except make me pee one hour later.
Maybe an occasional mild heart palpitation...weeee!!!

I'll never give up coffee. I'm drinking a Tim Horton's coffee while typing this while my daughter is having an appointment listening to X-Sinner. Coffee also goes great with listening to Christian Oriented Ols School Hard Rock and Metal.

I've heard that caffeine is a downer to those who have adhd. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but coffee doesn't affect me. I wish it would give me a boost but it doesn't do that and it doesn't give me anxiety. For me it's just the taste, baby!!
