What do you guys think of Dream Theater's "Scenes From A Memory" album
Hi guys. This question is for any devout Christians who like the band, Dream Theater? Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands and I want to ask you this random question. What do you guys think of Dream Theater's "Scenes From A Memory" album? It's also their first concept album that tells a story of a guy named Nicholas who's been having flashbacks of the past before his therapy and later on went to hypnotherapy for some kind of regression therapy to find out about the murder of a girl named, Victoria. I'll leave off links that tells the storyline within their "Scenes From A Memory" album below in this post. Plus, I also wanted to ask what are your favorite songs from Dream Theater's "Scenes From Memory" album. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
Here are the links that explains the storyline of Dream Theater's "Scenes From A Memory" album.

Masterpiece.
Musically excellent and the story totally departs from the original Metropolis. It involves something about hypnotherapy and past life regression: a buncha silly nonsense built around a murder or a suicide... I really never bothered with it. But they made a great album out of silly nonsense.
My experience with it is that the mellower stuff isn't really interesting unless you take in the whole album at once. Otherwise I stick with the instrumentals which are excellent and the first half of the album aside from "Home" which drives me crazy with the wah pedal abuse and repetitive riffing.
This was before Jordan Rudess tried to be a guitar player and was restrained by the band for the better, being the new guy. His contributions are outstanding with some incredible trade-offs and synch-ups with Petrucci.

Just tepid rock. I never liked Jordan Rudess at all and I think this band is not much without Kevin Moore's songwriting. I mean, is this album even half as good as Operation: Mindcrime or even A Pleasant Shade of Gray? I also don't find Petruccui's constant soloing as interesting as he seems to find it.
What is it that you think is exceptional about it?

It's good, but a bit overrated in my opinion.
I like it better than most of the Mangini era albums but it's near the bottom of the original Portnoy era for me.

I heard it once and thought it was very good, but it didn't keep my attention like an "Images & Words" or an "Operation Mindcrime." As for the silly lyrical premise, I guess this is one time I'm happy I don't pay too much attention to lyrics unless they're really good or really offensive.

I'd rather listen to Revelation Project than this TBH though I'm sure some would not.
